i remember when they took that BIG hit like last year, after that i had my eye on it. because Netflix doesnt really have a competitor that could beat them at what they do best.
11/19/12: The high for AAPL on that bounce was made on 12/3/12, 2 weeks to the day. Of course I was also short AAPL a year ago at 400 and was dead wrong. Like I keep saying, the only thing that really matters is how much I lost on its way up, and how much I make on its way down. Let the newbies bicker about being "right" or "wrong". However, I do hope certain individuals here have learned something about evaluating stocks based on current fundamentals like cash and book value. They are meaningless and dangerous to trade on. While future fundamentals are a mystery. The most reliable indicators are still reading fear and greed.
For short term trading, probably. Apple isn't going anywhere and the fact remains they are a strong company with enormous revenue and healthy margins. Let the fear take over and give me better buying prices.
so is APPL going back up anytime soon? I expected them to bounce back after this quarter because of the holiday sales ....unless they surprise people with the next iphone
How low can you go? Apple at $445 and dropping; operating margins slipping, iphones sale growth in China not meeting expectations. Buy at $430?
Both up over 20% since this post. Looks like people are finally seeing the value in anything related to offshore and deepwater. Hopefully Noble's weak q4 report does not translate to a weak report for RIG.
congrats again, I sold AAPL at a loss this morning and jumped on netflix for a nice profit, sold it now and bought FB into the earnings next week..looking for a $4 jump
I'd revisit Reggie Middleton's blog post. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7310704&postcount=5334
Lol. Anybody watch the Ackman vs. Icahn on-air fight? It's hilarious. Icahn came off looking like a 5 year old. Fast forward to the 13:00 mark ... that's where it starts. Then there's 27 more minutes of it afterwards. I was at work watching and couldn't believe what was going on. I ran with HLF from 36 to 43 and might jump on it again next week. I think Ackman is right, HLF is a pyramid scheme, but IMO it's making a lot of money and will probably continue to do so within the next 2-4 years...There was no reason to run it short yet, Ackman just jumped into to early and might even get short squeezed. Icahn, he just sounds like an old senile man who still tries to bully people like he's in elementary school.
Just wanted to get quick thoughts on CSTR (Coinstar) or better known as Redbox. Earnings are coming up on Feb 7th, stock is trading at a 10 forward P/E. The main risk with this stock is the notion that dvd rentals are on the decline as streaming is the way of the future. However, CSTR (along with Verizon) has recently started redbox instant. $8 per month for unlimited streaming movies (movie selection is pretty limited at the moment from what I've read), and 4 red box dvd rental credit (value of $4 since each rental is $1 at a kiosk). Do you think this redbox instant has the potential to take away customers from nflx/amzn? Would you pay for redbox instant?
