Nope. This image of him as a sort of mesmerizing prophet is completely fabricated for people such as yourself. In reality he had no ideological credibility. He was not an inspirational speaker. He was not a brilliant strategist. The only reason he had support is because the sphere of his ideology overlaps with the spheres of virtually everyone in the Middle East. Many many many of his people did not and do not believe in his entire message - rather they share a common desire for America to leave Middle East (critically Saudi Arabia) and the least educated of them decided that this common desire was enough to ignore the big/small differences they have. For example, someone like Ron Paul may totally agree with OBL that the United States should leave the Middle East. This is not enough for Ron Paul to want to fight for Al Qaeda. What differentiates Ron Paul from an Al Qaeda fighter is virtually everything else. He is knowledgeable enough to recognize that, and has options to pursue his goals peacefully. If Al Qaeda fighters thought they could stage a sit-in protest and get the US to leave, they would do that. In their ideology, martyrdom is achieved by a war of necessity, so in their minds this is the last resort absolute necessity. The root problem is and has always been education and opportunity. That has not changed, and someone else will fill OBL's role with the same level of filth, but under a lot more cover so that they're not turned into a massive target. This is how the world has always worked, and how it will always work. Terrorism, btw, is not the waging of unwinnable war. That's a description you've created to fit that narrative. Terrorism is terrorism, as defined in the dictionary, and if you prefer as defined in a US army manual: "the calculated use of violence or threat of violence to attain goals that are political, religious or ideological in nature. This is done through intimidation, coercion, or instilling fear." This is why there is such a thing as state terrorism. Oh and don't ****ing tell me about social order, tranquility and human decency when your troops are in my back yard and you discuss our sovereignty like an asset on your balance sheet, you a-hole. I'm the one here preaching peace and anti-war.
Yes, street justice is for terrorists. Of course the argument could be made that OBL made his own death an immovable obstacle in the pursuit of justice - and I would probably agree with that. But that doesn't make it justice. That just makes it necessary.
You were not given authority to define what justice is. Your idealistic ideas have no basis in reality. You are the liberal version of a libertarian.
Sure whatever but this thread is not about me. I understand that this is the most emotional topic for you, but the reality is that you're simply making an exception to suit your emotions. Do you feel this way about everyone who orders the death of 3,000 innocent people?
Guys, cut Mathloom some slack. I was in Dubai the past few days and talked to some guys there - otherwise really Western, they partied, drank, chased girls and all of that. But as soon as the topic comes to USA, Osama Bin Laden, Israel, they all say things like: - Osama Bin Laden was a CIA agent - The planes flown into the WTC were military planes - It was an inside job to create an enemy scapegoat - All unrest by Islamists in the world as well as the terror attacks in London and Madrid were inside jobs - Muslims didn't do anything bad, everything was started by George Bush and the USA - Bush is like Hitler - Israel will soon be wiped off the planet (and they say it like it would be a great joy for them) - Assad is only being secretly backed by Russia, USA, everyone, because whoever comes next will wipe Israel off the map, first priority Etc. That's just what people think in that region, and Mathloom is one example of it.
