That's easy. The economy. Honestly, nothing else matters whatsoever. If people don't have jobs, then all the other stuff is pointless. Show me a city with a booming economy, and I'll show you a city that has everything.

Austin is fun to visit every once, but Houston is just a better overall city. We have food trucks, arts, "hipster" stores, etc. The people that say Houston is lacking in anything but scenery just need to explore the city. I've lived here my whole life (26), go out often, and I still experience new places and stuff to do often.

Food, food, and food are the 3 things that make Houston the best. Did I mention food? Yeah, food too, I suppose.

Seriously though, the best restaurants in Texas are in Houston. There's such an abundance of them it's not even fair.

    Roh oh.

Here comes the Annual Houston vs Austin debate again with San Francisco showing up, and New York City showing up in the later rounds.

what makes Houston better than all other cities is how much of a G you can live like here compared to other places with the same amount of money.

Sort of done responding to you in general but this is how bad information gets passed.

Having spent last 6 years in san diego (pacific beach specifically) women are WAY better looking in houston than san diego. It's not even close. Southern belles, southern women in general TX to FL are head and shoulders above california women.

Much like you, a beach boys song from 60's just isn't up to speed. Argument fail but at least you didn't brag this time.

Location at 0:22 is on Studemont next to a newly built Kroger. That Kroger has the best looking women of any grocery store; the 11th St. Kroger's title has been rescinded.

Different cities in Texas have different strengths. I think on economy -- jobs available, diversity, excellence, pay, etc -- only the big cities can compete: Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. I think you can knock off San Antonio on arts/academia/culture (not knocking San Antonio culture, but they lag Houston and Dallas on the high culture stuff). Then, you can knock off Dallas because it's a dank hellhole that has to watch the Cowgirls and the Little Ponies and that no one in their right mind would want to be associated with.

You can say that again. I lived in Chicago for a few years and the food here is way better. My sister in Law lives in New York. She thinks the food here is by far superior than NY. The food and diversity of food here in Houston is probably some of the best in the entire country.

You should really put San Antonio/ Austin together. You can probably go from SA to Austin in about time it takes to get across Houston.

So true about the womens (11th street Kroger is Ghetto, Kroger on West Gray and Whole Foods on Studemont has the hotties), but I was there this past Sunday during the storm and I have never seen so many skinny jeaned twats in my life gathered in one place besides an Emo concert. For some reason I was starting to get angry. It's like they all meet up in the "wheat grass" section and just gossip like b****es.

GET. OUT. OF. MY. WAY. YOU. STUPID. HIPPIE!

Absolutely, but I think in quantifiable terms, you can almost point to the availability of jobs as being the driving force behind all of that. Houston, by far, has the most diverse economy in Texas, as well as the entire South. Medicine, oil and gas, finance, the small business capital of the country.....you name it, and Houston has it. Because of the healthy economic environment, people are a lot more likely to give BACK to the economy by way of visiting restaurants, going to ball games, enjoying the arts and culture, etc. Dallas likes to pretend that they are batting with the big boys, but one look at their foreclosure rate tells a very different story.

Wasn't arguing that. I'm just saying that Houston has as much history as Chicago. Maybe not as famous as Chicago's history, but it is certainly fascinating.

I've spent half my driving years each in Austin and Houston and I can say without a doubt that Houston has better traffic than Austin. The roads and highway infrastructure are way better in Houston. 2 loops, and highways that go in all 8 cardinal directions. Austin roads were designed by a dumbass who thought it was a good idea to have each highway go the same direction.

The only reason people say houston traffic is bad is because you're driving in one of Americas largest cities. That type of traffic will be in any major city. Austin, being a quarter of houstons size, shouldn't have that type of traffic. It's actually worse.
