In the event that Memphis winds up trading Rudy Gay to Toronto, Houston might want to get involved so as to walk away with a worthwhile asset. Houston would simply absorb a contract of a player that Memphis isn't particularly thrilled about. I have posted before that Jose Calderon may be a classic Daryl Morey Moneyball player, i.e., a highly undervalued player.

    Here's an idea:

    Rudy Gay to Toronto

Terrence Ross, Ed Davis, Toney Douglas, and Cole Aldrich to Memphis

Jose Calderon and Hamed Haddadi to Houston

Houston is able to use its excess cap space to absorb the difference in salaries here. Memphis' 2012-13 payroll goes down by approximately $7 mil.

Houston winds up with a PG to dangle to Utah, a team that has a horrible PG situation. Houston could dangle either Jeremy Lin or Calderon to Utah; Houston obviously would be hoping to pry away Paul Millsap from the Jazz. Utah may be willing to trade Millsap for Lin, straight up, although Utah likely asks Houston to throw in either Marcus Morris, Donatas Motiejunas, or Terrence Jones.

Let's say that Houston trades Lin, Patrick Patterson, and Morris to Utah for Paul Millsap and filler (Jamaal Tinsley, Kevin Murphy). After getting Calderon basically for free. Obviously Houston would plan on re-signing both Millsap and Calderon to extensions this summer. Three years, $20 mil probably does the trick for Calderon. Four years, $40-$45 mil probably does the trick for Millsap.

    Revised roster

    Starting lineup

    PG Jose Calderon
    SG James Harden
    SF Chandler Parsons
    PF Paul Millsap
    C Omer Asik

Key reserves: Carlos Delfino, Greg Smith, Terrence Jones, Patrick Beverly

End of the bench (little or no P.T.): Jamaal Tinsley, Hamed Haddadi, Kevin Murphy, James Anderson

Developmental league: Donatas Motiejunas, Royce White

Houston obviously lets Tinsley, Haddadi, and Murphy walk this summer. That frees up three roster spots. Houston probably fills these three roster spots with the sort of medium upside, low risk finds (e.g., Greg Smith, Patrick Beverly) that Morey seems to specialize in. Houston enters the 2013-14 season with the exact same nine-man rotation as above.

Hawks got rid of Joe Johnson, and they may possibly lose Josh Smith. They're in rebuild mode. They don't want an old Gasol with that massive contract.

Lol everybody has bad games, so i don't think that should effect the possibility of him coming to Houston. The second part can be a factor though, harden is our star and we can't out a player who he has beef with on the team.

Celtics are blowing up their team,
Jazz have a log jam at Pf/C.
76ers are rebuilding around Bynum and Holiday.

This is the best trade I can think of, and get that player that I believe can be the Pippen to Harden.- Evan Turner

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=aens2dh

Rox - Get the best player and the contract that no one wants.
76ers - Get the expiring contact and the best PF of the trade.
Celts - came out big winners in terms of clearing cap space for next year.
Jazz - Maybe a couple of future picks from the celts as well, get a back court that can compete.

Don't let the wins fool you, Rockets still need a consistent post scorer in the paint.

If Tor does agree to this trade, then they have some stupid ppl working in front office. lol. i would trade for them but a fair trade would be something like Rockets giving up Pat / Aldrich / Donuts / Parsons that would work out as a fair trade bc then Tor gets some young talent in return.

There is no way that Toronto trades Valaciunas. That is the guy they plan to make a key part of their future. They waited a year for him to come over, and they're not going to put all their painful tanking to waste and trade him after having to endure all of that to get him. They're big on him.
