That's not what I suggested.

I agree that Lin is good at driving ability.

Therefore, if a defender even slightly closes out on Lin (they still do, this is basic basketball. I honestly want you to notice during the next game if they do or not) he should be able to get a first step on them and drive past them.
If as you suggest, they sit far back and dare him to shoot he should be able to take one or two dribbles and pull up for a jumper (as it is suggested he is a decent shooter off the dribble)
Not to mention you conveniently ignored all the situations I clearly referenced in which Lin receives the ball at the top of the 3 point line and drives in only to run around in circles or pass it back to Harden.

And you still haven't mentioned how Lin travels on the 3 point line if he never drives because his defender is sagging off him
Lemme know when you feel like answering all the questions i've been putting forth

Maybe I misunderstood you, you were making it sound like teams always slightly close out on him. Once in a while they do slightly close out on him but the vast majority of the time they sag off him & double somebody else. That is what you do when you have a PG that is a vastly better driver than shooter.

They do sit back & dare him to shoot all the time. I sighted an example from the Clippers game whether you saw it or not.

I don't know why he doesn't shoot jumpers off the dribble he is better at it at least last year he was (does anybody have a stat to back this up)

But I remember coach saying that the team doesn't shoot jumpers off the bounce it is always off the catch so maybe it is a team philosophy to not stop the ball I don't know. This is something I have been wondering for sometime.

I ignored this because I don't even understand what you are getting at. What do you mean running around in circles? Do you mean where he keeps his drible alive & circles the paint?

On the times that defenders do decide to close out on him he does drive I don't disagree with this. But this goes back to my point though. When teams do open the driving lanes he takes them (unfortunately he travels or steps out of bounds ) when teams shut off the driving lanes & pack the paint he doesn't drive. Like I said he doesn't willfully work against his own talent.

All this discussion for a guy who will never sniff superstar status. Lin himself would probably admit that. With yao I could take all this talk because he had the potential. I'd rather talk about how harden should quit jacking up shots like Kobe.

Well, volume-wise I have no problem with how many shots Harden is taking. But I would rather he takes them in the flow of the offense, instead of forcing shots with 3 defenders in the paint.

Can't wait till Lin gets traded. Rockets don't need Lin. Rockets should make an offer him as a centerpiece to any team who needs a Pass first pure point guardbefore the trade deadline . But I doubt it cause morey probably already made more then 25 + million off of lin but there are still rocket fans still complaining about a guy who's never even finished 82 games in his career and compairing him to players who have played in the league or more then 3-5 years and in their primes. Saying that they're better. Its a no brainer that they should be better with their experience. DOh

We should derail this thread and talk about harden so that they can close this thing up.

Harden needs to keep the ball moving instead of dribbling the crap out of the ball. He'll get better looks that way.

He is only 23 years old, with huge upside potential. After he fully recovers from his surgery and improves his shooting during the summer, he will only continue to get better.

Nice. I don't mind the sheer volume of shots Harden takes, I just hate when he gets lazy sometimes and jacks a contested 3/long 2 rather than attack or pass. LeBron has a habit of doing this too when he's a little winded. And being winded is not an excuse... if that's the case, then pass the freaking ball!

There were people who doubted Yao's potential (publicly) just like they did Lin's when he first started out. C'est la vie.

Harden is fine as long as he isn't pressing. Once in a while he presses but for the most part he doesn't force things.

I do typically but I'm sure you would admit that the arrival of Lin has had a negative impact on these boards. Many Rockets fans in Houston can't watch the games without crappy streams so the game threads serve as somewhat of a substitute. Those threads have been ruined completely by LOFs. You have to go through 4 pages of 2012 join dates to find anything worth reading. I think that's the problem many of us have an why our approach is so negative. It's nothing against Jeremy himself. He hasn't played well but he wouldn't generate even half of the talk or criticism he does now if not for his fan base. As to your points about Lin, he certainly had a great run in NY and i can't pretend it didn't happen. Like I said, I just thought that was one of those things that is as a great story but he's actually the player we're seeing now. I could obviously (and hope) I'm wrong, but it's just how I've felt watching him play. To elaborate on what I'd like to see him do, it would be penetrate more and hit his open jumpers. I actually wouldn't even care if his turnovers stayed where they were if he did that.

I have criticized Harden. I said he was terrible for that 5 game stretch and have made comments regarding his lack of defense. This kind of illustrates my point. People on see me criticize Lin because that's what they want to see. Have you looked at my join date and post count? I don't rest when he plays well. I've given him credit a few times this year. I just don't post a lot dude.

No, but I was just showing that what you were saying was false while my comment was accurate.
