<br> It's really bad from about April to November. But to be fair at least it rains a lot in the summer (when not in a drought) so it's not that bad all the time. Then again it still blows.
Holly came from Miami, F.L.A. Hitch-hiked her way across the U.S.A. Plucked her eyebrows on the way Shaved her legs and then he was a she She says, "Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side" He said, "Hey honey, take a walk on the wild side" Candy came from out on the island In the backroom she was everybody's darlin' But she never lost her head Even when she was giving head She says, "Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side" He said, "Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side" And the colored girls go Doo do doo, doo do doo, doo do doo Little Joe never once gave it away Everybody had to pay and pay A hustle here and a hustle there New York City's the place where they said "Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side" I said, "Hey Joe, take a walk on the wild side" Sugar plum fairy came and hit the streets Lookin' for soul food and a place to eat Went to the Apollo, you should've seen 'em go go go They said, "Hey sugar, take a walk on the wild side" I said, "Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side" Alright, huh Jackie is just speeding away Thought she was James Dean for a day Then I guess she had to crash Valium would have helped that bash She said, "Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side" I said, "Hey honey, take a walk on the wild side" And the colored girls say Doo do doo, doo do doo, doo do doo
Best answer so far although we have enough people moving here already. The original poster needs to bring this thread up in a year or two and tell us his thoughts. I want to know how he feels after moving from Brooklyn to katy/sugar land/ mo city etc.
changing buses 50 times and then when getting *close* and having to walk a half a mile to the location you are trying to actually go to (in 100 degrees in a suit) is no way to go through life. I think the bus system in houston is okay but it is not a very acceptable solution in many cases in houston. The number 12 to the number 16 to the number 6 to the number 14 to the number 57 then walk a mile? come on
I think you have a misconception about Houston and downtown area. Areas outside downtown like friends wood , clear lake, peatland, sugar land , have everything you are pretty much looking for.
On my street, there are South Asian, Hispanic, African-American and Asian families all within 10 houses of us.
Yeah and you can walk outside your door and enjoy amazing weather, beautiful scenery, good cafes, culture, coffee shops, and restaurants, and on top of all that you have the ocean and good jobs with clean air and no refineries, chemical, plants or mosquitoes. Please don't ever say Houston is in any way shape or form better than San Francisco.
The bus system in Houston does indeed suck, but I've never had to switch busses that many times when going downtown/the medical center. More like take the metro... get off on whatever stop at main... Ride the rail. Then walk in 100 degree weather. Bus system does blow
I don't know man, the rain just makes things worse IMO. It gets so humid afterwards that one time I successfully levitated a few inches off the ground by doing the breaststroke.
The Woodland's bus comes about every 10 minutes from 5:30-8 AM and it is apparently a 35-45 minute trip.. Also there are two different Woodlands stops(off Ashlane Way and Woodlands Parkway & off Gosling between Research Forest and FM 242). Same for the Kingwood bus. If you miss the bus, just wait 10 minutes.....
I love the Woodlands, but it's just too far from everything for me. Kingwood is like a lesser version of it. Can someone who has lived in Houston and Austin compare the 2 for a late 20's single male?
The Woodlands is one of the more beautiful suburban areas of Houston but is way too out there for me. I couldn't imagine moving out there unless I worked for Exxon or Anadarko. I think Houston or Dallas is better for someone in their late 20's. There are a lot more uspcale bars/lounges/clubs/restaurants to enjoy. Austin is better for someone in their early 20's. Also, there are tons of places to visit in Houston if you're into museums, art, etc.
I should mention i'm going to be a full time student in my late 20's. Also, i'd like to mention that San Diego is my city. I loved living there better than living in Hawaii. I have only been to Austin once and i only went to someones house and left after 45 minutes. It was night time as well so i didn't see anything. Is Austin really a San Diego of Texas as I've heard it been described?
The only similarity between San Diego and Austin is the smell of weed in the air. San Diego has beautiful beaches and Austin has a great local music scene. SD has comic-con and ATX has SXSW. That's pretty much it. The weather's different, the women are different, the cops are REALLY different.
Please dont tell me sunset in sfo is a suitable beach? You know why its called sunset right? locals joke because you can never see the sunset due to fog. I am a san francisco lover btw. Spent lots of time there. I lived in san diego for 6 years. sure it was nice to go to beach and I did all the time but the poser life and the lack of good food got old. pappadeux. crawfish etoufee. seafood gumbo. yum. Would I go back? sure. but this notion of california being the end all be all is simply not true. Also lots of run down places in california. if you want any kind of place you have to throw down. even then the run down aspect is just sad. Was watching one of those home shows the other day and they were in thousand oaks. Was talking to my wife and second I saw what they were looking at all run down I said to her 'Califiornia?' and she was like 'yup!' Please dont ever say that the place you can live in in san francisco is in any way shape or form better than many other places including houston/dallas
Austin's culture is more Portland than San Diego. Hipsters, live music, food trailers, etc. Both are pretty big tech hubs. San Antonio's demographics (military + Hispanics) are more closely aligned to San Diego.
