That's too much $ going into Minnesota, don't think any team can take on Josh Smith AND Redick's contract.

that's very interesting (finally a Love trade that's not Patterson + Morris + Aldrich).

I wouldn't do this from Sota point of view. What if Smith leaves? I mean, they can avoid that by giving him a Bird rights contract - 5 year max or near max which could be up to 100 mil. But in that case they'd be massively overpaying. And Love isn't leaving till 2015 if he's leaving at all, so it's too early to get that desperate and add a horrible contract.

BUT imagine that Houston gets Smith this offseason on a more reasonable deal. Something in 4 years / 50-60 mil range. In that case a very similar deal at the deadline or in summer 2014 would make a lot of sense.

How about a trade for a vet like KG? Moreso with Rondo out for the season and talk of the Celtics blowing it up. KG is still playing at a high level and I have no doubts he would give his all for McHale.

KG can groom our future PF's like DMo and Jones.

    Throw in picks, fillers etc

I believe Morey is thinking long run and not short run. KG is a great player but he is getting old. so dont think anything happening with him coming to Rockets. I think at trade deadling its going to be more of a making room for more money someone like 1 year left on contract. i see those type of trades happening. so we can do a sign n trade, and sign another star player.

Yes, I think Morey mentioned maybe doing something minor around the edges with cap space this year.

As to your point about sign n trade, I doubt it. Star players will not be moving via sign and trades anymore. Rules are different. They'll probably either be traded during an expiring year, or just walk as a free agent. Not much chances of sign and trades for them under the new CBA rules going into effect this summer.

KG has no trade clause. About as unlikely as a Kobe trade.

    Rockets In: Kevin Love
Minny In: OJ Mayo, Chris Kaman, Donatas Motiejunas
Dallas In: Omer Asik, Carlos Delfino, Royce White

Rockets get their second foundational piece.

Minny gets a SG for the future, expiring center who can contribute, and a young PF to develop.

Dallas gets a top shelf defender in Asik to play next to Dirk, a SG/SF who can contribute, and Royce White who they were supposedly very high on (which is why Morey took him at 16 instead of 18).

    Lin / Douglas / Beasley
    Harden / ??
    Parsons / ??
    Love / Patterson / Morris / Jones
    Smith / ??

Not terrible, but I don't know if Dallas would want part in a move sending a superstar to another team, let alone a division rival, especially when they're giving up the bulk of the pieces.

I like the irony of OJ Mayo getting traded for Love, again.

Do you guys think the Lakers would trade us Nash for Lin straight up?

Nash would fit with with our team so much better with his BBIQ plus his 3-pt shot. I know Nash is old but he is still capable of running a team and is playing at a very high level. We could use his service until we find a better ASSET.

I think the Lakers would consider it on the fact that Lin is so much younger plus his marketability but I'm not sure Lin would fit with Kobe very well.

I would even consider taking on Gasol just to get Nash but I would rather have Ryan Anderson from the PELICANS. We could possibly give them Morris, D-Mo, & Patterson for Anderson but they may not want to move him.

    here is a trade suggestion.

    Rockets in: Pierce, Smith, Pachulia
Rockets Out: Lin, Asik, Douglas, Patterson, Morris, Delfino, Aldrich

Celtics in: Harris, Asik, Patterson, douglas, Delfino
    celtics out: Pierce, Bass

Atl in: Lin, Morris, aldrich, bass
    Atl out: Smith, Harris, Pachulia

    Beverley /
    Harden / anderson
    Pierce / tj / White
    Smith / Donuts / TJ
    Pachulia /

What you guys think about this. but then dont know how much cap we will have if this trade does happen for FA.

Other than Love, I think Asik is the most valuable asset in the trade.

Asik gives Dallas that "one more try" before they go into full rebuild. In someways their roster is very similar to ours....cheap/soon to be expiring contracts, but with one major difference.....Dallas is very old. They will not be able to pull off what Morey has without stinking up the joint. With Asik/Delfino/White, they get one more shot and get a player they can develop for the future.

No to kevin no defense love. Guy cries like Dwight, rebound numbers are inflated and shoots average from long range. Love isn't gonna get us to finals in,next 5 years

Love would not be our "go to"......he's our Bosh.

Disagree on the rebounding numbers. Pekovic and Kirilenko are solid rebounders, and Love was still putting up excellent numbers. Even if you say he's not "elite", he's still very good.
