(Well, by poor, I certainly don’t mean to imply that money is an issue in his life. I stay out of guys’ pockets as much as possible, but he did make at least $22 million this season, which is about 2 ½ times the money Joe Flacco and Colin Kaepernick, the two Super Bowl quarterbacks, made this season.) It is going to be a difficult offseason for the Texans’ signal caller. Not only did Houston fall short of its stated goal with a second straight divisional round exit from the playoffs – and Schaub had a lot to do with the early ending thanks to a poor stretch of play to end the season – but his run of substandard play continued even in the Pro Bowl, as he completed only 12 of 22 passes for only 113 yards with two interceptions in a game in which defense isn’t allowed. Just when the anti-Schaub crowd had been all but silenced, he fell apart this season. Just when the anti-Schaub crowd was just about done venting after the loss at New England two weeks ago, Schaub throws up a dud in a meaningless all-star game. He looked like the same guy, lacking confidence, lacking zip on the ball, that he did down the stretch. Much of the talk last week was that the Pro Bowl is meaningless. Many said that because they assumed Schaub would light it up, as he did when he was named MVP of the game a few years ago. After all, we’re talking about practice. Not a game. Schaub didn’t exactly light it up. In fact, he was just short of terrible in the bits I watched. So here we go again. What the heck is wrong with Schaub? I can still ask that question because I’m not in the anti-Schaub camp. I recognize his limitations, but I also recognize his strengths. Any rational person can see that the Schaub we saw down the stretch wasn’t the one we have seen for much of the rest of his tenure with the Texans. And, no, it isn’t sufficient to simply claim he wilted under the pressure. That’s an easy out based on emotion, not fact. Hell, one could present a better argument that like a baseball pitcher Schaub wore his arm out by throwing 103 passes on just three days rest when he led the Texans to wins over Jacksonville and Detroit in November. It’ll be a long offseason for Schaub and Gary Kubiak as they try to figure out what actually did happen, and what changes they can make to try to prevent it from happening again.
Exactly. . . when you a 10 and 6 QB on a 6-10 team . . . . you ok You muscle out the 8-8 seasons and people generally think you are a plus but When you are 10-6 QB on a 14-2 team . . . . . I'm really starting to feel bad for Matt Schaub. I was really hoping he would prove me and many other people wrong (no sarcasm intended), but unfortunately I think that he has been mentally broken. His late season slump showed up again in the probowl. Two interceptions (one that really was not all on him) and another weak ass sack in a game (probowl) where defense is rarely played. I think that he CAN recover from it, but will he..... I seriously doubt it..... The only thing we can do now, is do whatever we can not to have to rely on him... Sorry Schaub fans....
valid. Though I still think the comparison isn't a good one...Seattle had nothing proven. They were improving a crappy QB situation. Flynn was paid, yes, but completely unproven. A gamble they had made without any supporting data yet. Vs. Schaub who you know you are getting something who is--even at worst--league average. Still agree that they should invest. But I just hate the Seattle comparison. They got lucky and their hand was forced by their situation much more than ours is
Yes, but our oline was much better, and our defence was as well. We regressed in those areas as well, unfortunately.
I think Kubiak must go, and if the texans bring a better coach, then schaub could play better. look what happened with Alex Smith, he sucked for years, when he had bad coaches, but when Harbaugh got there, he started to play better.

12-4? they were 10-6 last year. I don't really know about the regular season record, nor do i think it would really matter, although they probably would have at least beat indy and the titans...and I do think they would have hung with the Panthers better than they did. I do think, however, that they would have beaten the Ravens in the playoffs I don't know if they were "ascending" into the playoffs last year either. They were on a 3 game losing stretch before, granted the last titans game was a throwing in of the towel because the game didn't matter.
Warren Sapp called Schaub a "big game turd" at Super Bowl festivities. Followed it up with saying that the rest of the league knows this information as well. Ouch.
Ouch indeed. And Warren Sapp usually likes the Texans. I guess he is feeling how some of the fans are feeling after this disappointment of the past 2 month performances.

I know they were 10-6 What I was saying is .. . if Schuab had not been injured I think they would have ended up at 12-4 maybe 13-3 Rocket River
