The same JVG who would let T-Mac watch the second half of practices as he sat in a director's chair at courtside?
I said this when it happened, and I still believe it- firing JVG was one of the worst decisions the Rockets ever made.
I disagree. We were better under Adelman. That said, I'd take either back in a heartbeat and I think JVG has one of the best analytical basketball minds in the game today.
[rQUOTEr]Sorry. I still do not think it is okay for the brother of the coach that got fired by Orlando because of Dwight Howard's machinations to be able to speak critically about Howard on national television without that relationship with his brother being pointed out, or without him being challenged on whether he can possibly be objective about Howard. (And, let me state this again, for the record: I think both Brothers Van Gundy are certainly allowed to feel any way they wish about Dwight Howard. I have said, and continue to say, that I think Stan and Jeff together in a broadcast booth would be sensational. But the relationship should be made clear to viewers every time Jeff is on the air, and then the viewers could make up their own minds.)[/rQUOTEr]
I think most semi-serious know the story between Stan and Dwight and that Jeff and Stan Van Gundy are related. Not like anyone is trying to hide anything.
Also, it's not as if JVG took any personal swipes at Dwight that only an insider would know (i.e. information he received from Stan that a fan would not be privy to). He simply stated what we ALL know about the situation, and opined on it. I think this is Aldridge's way of drawing a line in the sand, and saying, "Look Dwight....I got your back! Now how about that exclusive interview?? "
The rosters under JVG were abysmal, Adelman had comparatively more to work with if you compare their best teams. Outside of T-mac and Yao, who did we have? Jon Barry? Bob Sura? Clarence Weatherspoon?
We started Ryan Bowen against Dirk. I repeat we started Ryan Bowen against Dirk and went to seven games against the Mavs. The same mavs team that went to the finals a year after.
sign me up for that gif too HeyPee also think there was also a loose ball/rebound during the rant that he basically stood still on and could make the effort of taking one step..... clearly JVG brings some brotherly insider information to the rant but it was brilliant
Adelman's problem is he didn't have T-mac and Yao together for very long, one or the other was injured, and he never had a playoff series with both.
