This is a mark of a good actor, the ability to portray many different roles even if they are known for one particular role or type of role. Also a lot of actors don't like to be typecast into one role as many find it difficult to get other roles once they have been typecast. I think a lot of actors and other celebrity did guest shots on the Star Trek series because they are fans and also because there is a need for new actors for aliens and new characters. Also on the subject of Star Trek actors while Patrick Stewart has a very wide range of versatility and in addition to being Captain Picard played almost the opposite character in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf where he was a petty scheming man dealing with a troubled and unfaithful wife.
gary oldman villain in Leon the professional, Fifth element. Good guy in Batman as Commish gordon and Sirius Black in Harry Potter
Also, the one set of shows with as many random actors to recognize is Law and Order and its spinoffs. For example, even Diane Neal, who played ADA Casey Novak on that show was a guest star in an episode before she became a regular-- she actually played a woman who raped a male stripper and murdered her friend. Very confusing, especially if you only watch the show sporadically and not in chronological order. (Wait a minute, why don't they know the DA and why is she a rapist?)
Did not realize Angels in the Outfield. The secret to the best ones is that they are out of the public eye for a long time or haven't been known for a whole lot.
Night Court was one of my favorite shows.. And the Brent Spiner character was one of the best ever. This still makes me laugh hard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrLvtoKZfxY&feature=youtube_gdata_player
That happened on MASH too with Harry Morgan who played Colonel Potter. He played a nutty somewhat racist general one season before he came back to play Colonel Potter.
Nice. Had no idea about him. I just read that one of the members of Fleetwood Mac was an alien on the show. One I thought of while at work : Nikki Cox May be NSFW : Spoiler On Unhappily Ever After - a knockoff show of Married With Children (or so some say) It's a shame what plastic surgery did to her... she was knockout pretty back in the day.
I had no idea about them. It was Mick Fleetwood as an Alien Of course the best all time guest-Klingon was Reverend Jim/Doc Brown http://cdn.uproxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Mick-Fleetwood.jpg
