*yawn* Pointless argument. Several of the people who dislike Lin made it clear that even before he showed up on the Rockets they had a firm opinion that Lin is going to be at best an average starter or back up Point Guard. When they see the game, they're going to see evidence to reinforce their opinions. Similarly, several of the people who really like Lin believe he's an above average to good point guard. When they see the game, they're going to see evidence to reinforce their opinions. Welcome to the definition of Confirmation Bias. We see what we want to see, especially when specific events confirm our own personal theories. This won't get settled either way for some time until there's more definitive play on the floor that one side is clearly right or the other. So, expect arguments along these lines for at least the rest of the season. Me personally, I think Lin TODAY is an average Starting NBA Point Guard. Last season, he was an average to above average Starting NBA Point Guard. This is what the statistics and my eyes tell me. I *believe* Lin has shown flashes of brilliance that points towards significant up side. Where Lin will land, only time will tell. Until Lin's play on the floor makes it absolutely clear that one side is correct, don't expect any sort of consensus. And even then, expect one side to continually argue that Lin is Over or Under rated. Such is the nature of sports and their fans.
I think all this "make other players better" is overrated. Nash isn't really making anyone better on the Lakers. It's really more about having chemistry and players who complement each others game.
Yeah why doesn't Irving share the ball and give it to all the other great players he has on his team......oh wait there is none.
So because Kyrie doesn't do it therefore it is overrated? If kyrie could make others better would you be saying this though? What I think is overrated is calling a guy who has yet to play in the playoffs a top 2 PG. That is overrated. But that is just my opinion though you are more than entitled to your own.
Give him Tyson Chandler and Kyrie will make him better. Give him Ray Allen and he will make him better.
king1 and this thread is a joke. wonder how many hours king1 wastes patrolling the forums...sad life. You'll be in my prayers tonight.
Kyrie is a 20 year old in his second season (first being a short lockout season), playing with a bad team. Steve Nash has been playing at a hall of fan level for a long time (excluding this year). The Cavs second best player is an oft injured high rebounding player in Varajao. That's all they have. Also Jrue also had much better teammates like Iguodala, Williams, and young. I'd much rather have Irving than Jrue
yeah he is their second best player but he has only played 81 games in 3 seasons and he is out for this season. What's the point of having a good player if he is always injured
I think roxxy is trying to say that BECAUSE irving plays on a **** team he is pretty much given free reign to ballhog and do as he please without caring about about involving his team mates and getting his point in the flow of the offense (LOL, iso Irving is in fact the only offensive scheme). While this is acceptable when playing with a bunch of clowns and journeymen, such a tactic ( Hardenball on steroids) will not cut it on a legit team looking to contend. We will then know whether is a stud like Jrue (who I consider to have 100X the potential of lillard) or a guy that can't integrate his skills in NBA teamball.
Lin is being paid 5 mil this year and next. And what counts against the cap does not really mayter right now since this year team salary is far below. Morey has repeatedly said that the Rockets have enough cap space to get another superstar without trading.
If you think Hardenball, a system devised by the inept Houston coaches, is even comparable to Linsanity which was joyful teamball with a lot of movement, cuts and alley-hoops that embodied perfectly the offensive philosophy of D'Antoni ( which lives on in a bastardised form on the current knicks ) then you need better glasses.
Key difference is Lin can do no wrong. His high turnovers are actually good for the team, while hardens deeply hurt us. Lin going iso and taking more shots makes his teammates better, while harden iso kills chemistry.
They are the same. The offense of this team would look a lot different if Tyson Chandler was the center.
