It's because when we are fast paced, it makes the defense not set. Fast means more open looks when the defense is reacting all the time. When you look at Harden's shots, it was open to semi open, not being completely double teamed like in our losing streak. Fast paced also means that the opponent gets tired. The first quarter, the Nets were matching us for every point, with them and you notice in the second quarter, the Nets were getting tired. Deron Williams twisted an ankle and no one was really making their shots as well as they did throughout. The nets did well in the 3rd, outscoring us by 4 I believe. There were some 3 points made and those gimme fouls on Lopez. If you guys hadn't noticed, when we are fast paced, the opposing teams get tired real fast and they can't shoot anymore. Take a look at the Chicago game and Memphis game. Memphis especially. Connely was making some ridiculous shots, with hands in the face. During the 4th quarter, Memphis couldn't even buy a basket. LOL. They're legs were just too tired from running w/ us. Watch next time guys. If our game is running, the opponent's FG % goes down in the 4th because they're too tired w/ us. In other words, the best defense is a good offense. Cheers.
There's are most likely several reasons we shoot better in fast paced games. 1) You get better shots when the defense is not set. More open driving lanes and defenders out of position. 2) When you run a fast paced game against a slower older team, they get fatigued more quickly than a younger and quicker team. This leads to fatigue and defensive errors (leading to better shots). 3) When you run a fast paced games, you get more possessions. This means more shots, which means that if shot distribution remains the same EVERYONE gets more shots. More shots means it's easier for players to get into and stay in shooting rhythm versus shooting while cold. I'm sure there may be other reasons as well but this is what comes to mind.
These particular sections are the most expensive and the least full. It's sad actually because its these sections that are most visible on TV. When you are at the game, all the other sections are full to max (endzone, corners, upper sections, etc).
Stomped his feet a few times, hard bounced the ball, snatched the ball out of Harden's hands on a TO. Just little things I noticed lol. I'm just a really observant person. There was no doubt he was frustrated early on.
Yes, he had a GREAT game... He's the reason the Rockets took a big lead in the 2nd because of his defense on D-Will... D-Will was the pretty much the only player knocking down shots in the early goings of the game. Parsons deserves a lot of credit. Good to see him bounce back after running his mouth and then playing like garbage.
We just beat the Broken Nets, who gives a **** about Moron Williams?!! Several pages about him? Really? Chandler, Asik, Morris had a great game and you mutha****ers wanna talk about Meron Williams!? Stop trolling or go to the Nets forum or a Lin forum. Chandler' D was a huge difference maker and Lin's God forcing Meron Williams' ankle to twist.
I don't know why you guys want Asik to catch those "bounce pass". It's taught in every basketball camp that you should always pass the ball to your big man right into his chest, especially when he is on the move. Bounce pass is the last option you should take to feed the big guy, since they have to look down, reach down to get the ball. Unless absolutely necessary, players should never feed Asik with bounce passes. Put it straight into his chest, so he can just take it & go up.
The main reason that our guards throw those bounce passes is that oftentimes that's the only way to get him the ball, the other lanes are closed due to opposing team's defense . Greg Smith rarely has problems catching those bounce passes. I agree our guards shouldn't throw Asik' the bounce pass anymore until he gets better hands. Those bounce passes will most likely lead to a TO on our guards' stat.
No! like drexler said, you throw that pass to asik's face. so if he doesn't catch the ball, it hits hims. And he will remember to catch it next time. jejejjejejejjejejejejejjejejejejjejejejejejejejejjejejeje. I like it, bill.
Asik tends to take the ball down under his waist first before he can jump up. So feeding him low with a bounce pass matches his style. my 2 cents.
After his atrocious beginning Asik caught several bounce passes and went on to dunk them. I believe he must be able to do this in practice else JLin and Harden would not continue to do it in games. I think some of this is young kids still a bit cold/scared/nervous when the game begins. I was glad to see they kept Asik in the game and yes continued to bounce pass to him and he did indeed do a phenomenal job by the end of the game. I think they all need to keep watching 'good' game film and boosting their confidence in themselves and each other.
hey no, I saw that!! Maybe it wasn't so much you guys still respect me, but I noticed Harden had the 1000 yard stare going on, he didn't look at Mchale and just looked straight on, he didn't even nod! Probably thinking about dem strippers
You already said Lin is the type who is already hardest on himself and everyone knows Lin already is the hardest worker. How much harder do you want Lin to be on himself? It's not that Lin hasn't been under greatest pressure to deliver due to his big contract. You have to realize too much pressure could break a person. There is an expectation, and there is an unrealistic expectation. Under Mike D'Antoni's PG centered offense, Lin has much more freedom to play. His usage was high, he was playing heavy minutes, and he was often facilitated by multiple screens. On the Rockets, Lin doesn't and will never have that kind of freedom. Before the season started, even before we got Harden, Sampson made that clear in his interview. Now with Harden here, Lin's role and usage all drastically reduced. McHale knows with current Harden-centered system, without providing enough freedom and facilitating(i.e. screens, PnRs, etc..) to Lin, it's just unfair to Lin to expect him still pull a Linsanity here. As much as I still have some reservations about McHale, I like the way he talks about Lin. He is being very realistic. The last thing I want is a delusional and unreasonable head coach who is disappointed by Lin not reaching Linsanity level.
Take no more than your fair share of shots and Keep feeding your teammates, particularly the bigs, even if you don't feel they are going to make it this time and you may lose this game by doing so. Kobe finally figured this out and they won against OKC !
I just think it's too costly to throw bounce passes to Asik during games for him to practice, especially when the game is close. I expect Asik to get better after an offseason training with a similar method that Yao used, eg, practicing to catch tennis balls non stop to improve his reflex. BTW, if you pay attention to yesterday's game we were spacing much better (Parsons also mentioned that in his post interview) and it had relatively more room in the paint area for our guards to throw those bounce passes and therefore a bit easier for Asik to catch. It won't be like that all the time due to different opponents and different game plan . I just think our guards needs to be aware when to bounce pass to Asik when not. It's not a good thing for both Asik and Harden if Asik just fails again and again to catch it as evidenced in that frustration on both Harden and Asik's face during last Hornets game. (Lin is always a nice person, so less likely he will give Asik that kind of look. )
