There is a LOT of bigoted and prejudiced comments about Jeremy Lin in media as well as among fans (both deliberate and unintentional racism). People who say they like Yao Ming, are confirming the stereotypes they have in their head that Asian Americans aren't American, or that Asians are the same. It is unquestioned the kid has faced racism. His teammates have gone on record saying they have heard racist taunts every game he played in college. He is still California State's only HS player of the year EVER to receive zero D1 scholarship offers (Harvard doesn't give athletic scholarships).

You can't be this dense. I was a Yao fan because he was a good player for the Rockets and contributed a lot to our team. I'm not a Lin fan because he hasn't played well for the Rockets and his fans are completely delusional. You are alluding to racism on this board yet still can't offer up any examples. That lineup is a lot similar to the players Harden has to run with on a nightly basis. A bunch of guys you never heard of. D-League and bench players. So he should really be impressed with what Harden is doing with this team.
nah stop that stuff. Tyson Chandler is twice the big man any these guys are. Jared Jeffries say what you want is a very good defender. Iman Shumpert is a defensive stopper. Landry Fields plays great team ball, which wouldnt help with Harden anyway just like when Melo came back Fields became invisible. Steve Novak was also the best 3 pt shooter in the league. In terms of notoriety I guess you can say similar, but in terms of actual basketball and how they fit not all that similary.
Not saying that YOU'RE a racist, but yes, you can definitely be racist against your own race. This should be a no-brainer. You can also be a woman and be anti-feminist. For example, the women's suffrage movement faced a lot of opposition from women themselves. You can also be a gay person who's against gays. Log Cabin Republicans are a good example.
Kyrie is a great player but frankly I would take Jrue over Kyrie. Yes he is a tremendous talent but he has yet to play in the playoffs. Jrue has. Also the Cavaliers have continued to be mediocre with Kyrie. There are fair questions I think as to if he can make others better. Look at nash for example. Last season he nearly led a team full of old journey men to the playoffs. Jrue is also a great two way player & Kyrie is a atrocious defender & the Rockets need a guy who can defend better than harden not worse. So yeah I would take Jrue over Kyrie for this team.
Lin has been there for a half a season. Not playing that well? What'd you expect? 18 points 8 assists for a dude that makes 5 mill trying to run a brand new team with a ball dominant 2 guard next to him? Yao came in, and after the first couple games everyone wanted his head. Anthony Davis can't even stay healthy in the lineup half the time and no one even cares or mentions it. I don't see any uproar in Denver of Javele McGee getting 11 million this year, rest assured if Lin was in Denver he'd be getting toasted like he is here. If you think it's impossible to like one person of one race, and yet still hold racist views then you're just lost. Look at all the white people who supported Herman Cain. Those same guys despised Obama....do you really believe they'd hate Obama just as much and spew as much hate towards him if he was white? speechless. jrue has been to the playoffs, kyrie hasn't and that's proof enough. cavs have "continued" to be mediocre in his 2ND year. with a crappy team, not to mention he's missing the 2nd best player on that team for a while. and your justification is look a multi mvp with over a decade of experience can do it, why can't a 2nd year guy do it?

Honestly, I expected this as I've said many times. I didn't want us to sign Lin as our starting PG. That was even before we got Harden. I think he's at best average and I'd like to see us upgrade the position. I know they aren't trading him so that means we're stuck for 3 years. Do you realize where you are? It's a Rockets message board. Nobody cares about McGee or Davis. Why would they warrant extended discussion? I said that a racist wouldn't be a fan of Yao ming and not Jeremy Lin due to race. You can continue to spin it as much as you want but you've still yet to explain how that is possible. A racist hates an entire race hence the term. Again, you need to learn the meaning of the word. Selective racism is a whole different argument.
Lets not look too much into records now. Durant at one point averaged 25 PPG while his team ended up going 23-59. Is Durant a bad basketball player? No. Not everyone is a Lebron and you need to realize that. I would characterize Irving as more of a SG than a PG though.
