Well, Lin looks too big as a point guard to "steal" the ball. I have the impression that Lin's steal mostly comes from anticipation of passing rather than one-on-one defense. I hope I could find the corresponding statistic...

Wait, I though Patrick Patterson sucked at rebounding?

Umm...let's not go there. Lin still has a lot to improve on, and he needs to be consistent game in game out.

Agreed. But in the NBA the glory goes to the scorers. The defenders not so much.

No argument there. You rarely see him forcing it our playing tight defense, usually just intercepting the long-lofty throws. Interested as well to see if theres any sort of stat on type of steals.

It was pretty "sticky" in the last 9 games. We lost 8 of them. And that 1 that we did win, we were coming from behind......on the Bobcats.

Knicks fans were totally devoted to Lin, it was almost embarrassing. Cats were crossing the "1" and Anthony's name and replacing it with Lin. The garden went ape---- the entire time.

The Lin hate in HOU is unreal. There's absolutely no other basis for it aside from racism. It doesn't represent the fanbase generally speaking; however, a few, just a handful of the most bitter clowns who spew racist garbage have found a toehold on clutch forum.

Actually, his steals are both anticipated passes AND stripping the ball. He actually strips and pokes the ball as much as he plucks the ball from the passing lanes.

He's just has VERY active and quick hands that enable him to poke and pull as well as intercept the ball on passes. In that way he can be similar to Delfino in terms of how he generates some of his steals.

It's why he gets a decent number of forced jump balls too. He's just really good at getting his hands into the ball at the right time.

he did this a TON in ny. his problem is that he thinks too much. always looking for the "right play". imo he needs to turn on that switch in his head and if nothing is obvious right away, just shoot it! even if he misses, better than a TO and a fast break for the other team...

harden looks elite when his outside jumper is working. too bad he doesnt shoot all too often. how is he going to keep defenses honest if he doesnt shoot from the outside?

Man, you are enthusiastic:) But can you not try to start a war when we could enjoy some nice time after a win.

Lin is just a rookie. He does have some great potentials. But he is far from "VERY PROUD to have on their team" level.

His "international celebrity" comes both from his basketball play as well as his personal story / background. The latter does not seem to do anything (except maybe fan and sales?) to help Rockets to win a game...

I'm not talking about his basketball ability. I'm saying HOUSTON should be PROUD he's on their team. He's one of the most popular players in the world and is an INSPIRATION to MILLIONS. Don't you get it???? Hating on him and having threads like "Jeremy Lin is a joke" makes HOUSTON look SMALL. Don't YOU and OTHER DOUBTERS GET IT????

He only took 6 shots and one of them is last second dump ball on him and he has to shoot it. Check other PGs number of shots you will know 6 shots is exceptionally low. You don't think if Lin takes another 10 shots, his score won't reach the 20s?

It's obviously he was not looking for his own shots and score and trying to pass more. Today PPatt is on fire, Harden is efficient, Delfino is excellent, so Lin feeds them the ball. That's the ultimate team play by Lin. You don't want PPatt next time complain Lin shoots too more, do you? ;)

Kind of similar to Jason Kidd. People say he overplays the passing lanes that is why he gets a lot of steals which is untrue. He just has very good anticipation when it comes to this. It is very instinctive with him. I remember the first Memphis game where Lin just picked Conley's pocket clean.

inb4 people start accusing me of saying Lin will be a future HOFer PG like Jason Kidd.

    Oh. my. God.

Thank YOU whoever smacked common sense into McHale's head. I definitely don't think it's a coincidence this great game comes after PPat's comment, and Mr. Calvin Murphy and just about everyone with even the slightest amount basketball sense.

    Positives
    - Everyone played their TRUE POSITIONS and ..it brought the best out of just about everyone? Crazy, ain't it McHale?
    - Defense, especially my boy Lin, give him props you skeptics :p He got 6 steals! and just denied and frustrated Vazquez to no end, he only managed 1 sad basket.
    - PPat with 13!! rebounds and 18 pts, he was a bad man today.
    - McHale's logical substitutions.
    - Everyone's effort and hustle.

    Negatives
    - Asik's worst game to date :(
    - We went back to the ugly ISO of recent for a little stretch there and lost a bit of momentum due to it, but we pulled out of it. It's ok, bad habits (implemented by stupid coaching in the first place), die hard. Those are the growing pains I don't mind watching.

    The Funny
-Asik's fastbreak which resulted in an offensive foul LMAO.
-Asik stone hands and Harden snapping at him with a disgusted look for giving him all those TOs and Asik snapping back, idk but I totally imagined him cursing at Harden in Turkish. Too damn funny. Tough night for the big guy.

But most important, you see what happens when James plays SG and Jeremy PG, their..you know true positions? So much good! Jeremy attacks, orchestrates the offense wonderfully and James STILL gets his 30!! points on crazy efficiency AND found his shot again. Im just so happy. :):):):):):):)

Can you give some of us Rockets fans a chance? Nobody likes to be force fed, you will never reach some people. But give the ones that are willing to warm up to him a chance, people like you are going to seriously push us fans away. Maybe I'm really naive because I'm a new poster here but you are like an extreme.

So you think hating on an International celebrity because of your doubt of his basketball ability makes sense? How many basketball players are international celebrities right now? LeBron, Kobe, KD and a few others maybe. Houston has one on THEIR TEAM!! Doesn't that make you proud at all??? Everyone was psyched up about Harden making the All Star team but this is bigger than that.
Besides Jeremy is an excellent basketball player which apparently you haven't noticed.

Thanks torocan. Seems like my memory is quite biased:p It's good to have a guy that can steal. Can you shed some light on what statistic I could look at?

BTW: I notice that the Rocket is doing a better job at defending PnR today. The bigs are trying to jump at the ball handler when the guard goes under. It is quite coordinated.
