OK, in your opinion Royce White is not intelligent; it's mostly because of his genes but not related to race; he's from "not intelligent" "stock" and you're from "intelligent" "stock." Got it. Interesting to know that you have known many people "who were not very intelligent." But I think that's your own problem, not Royce White's. As for your being qualified to give your opinion "simply by existing," that assumes that your opinion has no effect on the world. Do you think you're qualified to fly an airplane "simply by existing"? No, flying an airplane is important, but calling a guy "not intelligent" is not important--hey, anyone can do that if he feels like it! That's what you're saying. OK, so here is my opinion, which I have formed on the basis of being an English major and reading all the English you wrote: you were talking out of your a$$ about Royce White, and you have failed to show that he is not intelligent or that he does not know what he is talking about. You are entitled to have your opinion, which you have not supported with any examples, but your opinion on Royce White has no value. That's just my opinion.
This is of course far from the topic at hand and in my original post i spoke of the nature vs nurture debate, so this is all pointless. It is my opinion, that Royce White comes across as a naive fool. Feel free to disagree, but this perfunctory foray into biology vs psychology has reached it's end, at least for me.
Guess some folks here have invented a new method of measuring IQ deficiency by watching Internet videos. Can't really say what his IQ is, but he doesn't sound like his "twitter personality," which at times just seems to be freaking out and paranoid. He is probably a lot calmer nowadays and thus ready to do TV/radio interviews (he was tweeting a few weeks ago about how he uses twitter and didnt do interviews because he distrusts media in general-- at least he's past that now). I don't he is correct legally about what the ADA requires, but being wrong about the ADA doesn't make you unintelligent, he is just not a lawyer and isnt speaking in technical precise terms. "Reasonable accommodation" also isn't a bright line test but more circumstantial in nature. One thing to note: people here act like he was constantly attacking the Rockets front office when he really only contradicted their public statement in a couple of isolated instances. And we don't really know if he was correct or not. We do know that the front office and Les do say things for PR reasons and have been called out by others before (Van Gundy and Adelman come to mind).
If you've noticed, I haven't disagreed with your opinion that White is a naive fool. At first I thought you were being sarcastic about your intelligence being from genetics, but it's surprising to me that some people feel the way you do. As for White, people believe he's more intelligent than he really is because he's a gifted speaker. It's a matter of style over substance.
In order to avoid another discussion about the heritability of intelligence, I'll explain what I meant without using the word "intelligence" or "intelligent". I personally think that his choices are destroying any possible career he could have had in the NBA along with harming student athletes who suffer from mental illness. I don't know what he thought his little rebellion was going to accomplish, but it will (and largely has) failed. I think it was short sighted of him to expect the NBA and the Rockets to re-write the CBA based on his opinion (or that of his family doctor) of what would be "safe" without ever even attempting to be an actual NBA player.
This will be my last comment on the subject, but most scientific studies have shown that the heritability of IQ is between 50 and 90 percent, a majority of those studies would agree with me that the most important factor in the level of one's IQ is genetics. It's not like what I said was controversial.
"Heritability measures the proportion of variation in a trait that can be attributed to genes, and not the proportion of a trait caused by genes.", which debunks your argument. Stick to history.
LOL, I feel like I'm in Western Europe around 1300 AD carrying a globe. That is merely a semantic argument. For example, if your dad is tall, you would say you got your height from your dad because the trait of height can be attributed to genes from his side of the family. Of course there are things that can happen in your life that will "stunt" your growth such as injury or whatever so you can't truly say that your father's genes "caused" you to be tall. Do you understand now?
The ability to express his thoughts well reflects a certain type of intelligence, IMO. It don't speak to his level of wisdom, though. You can be intelligent and well spoken, yet naive and egocentric.
You see what royce did to us? He's got us bickering amongst one another. Now let's channel that anger towards royce and collectively wish him a massive failure.
we live in an age of entitlement Production and talent are what entitle you to accommodation, like Manny Ramirez or Dennis Rodman or DeMarcus Cousins. Royce's leverage is not his actual playing abilities, but the threat of lawsuit, i.e. force.
I don't claim to know anything about Royce White. Some Rockets fans want to watch some videos and call him not intelligent and say he doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't see any foundation for that. Go ahead: call him stupid then. I don't see any reason for it. But if you think I'm not cool because I say it hasn't been proven that Royce White is unintelligent, I'm fine with that.
Oh I so agree! He's looking for a huge law suit. The way he talks. It's like he is following a set of instructions per an attorney waiting for the rockets to screw up.
Does he actually work on his game even though he ain't practicing with the team? Is he working out and staying in shape?
