But if memory serves correct, no one wanted to trade up to #1. The draft was pretty much consensus 4 deep (Bush/Young/Mario/D'Brickashaw Ferguson) and the #1 pick didn't hold a premium.

Don't our compensation picks kick in this year? If so would be stupid to not move up in the earlier rounds with so many picks at our disposal.

I'm down for Minter or Ogletree (can he play MLB here?) in Rd 1 and then getting a DT to replace Cody in rd 2. Hoping they add some size like Jesse Williams or John Jenkins but both are likely gone by the time we draft in the second. I'd still take a long look at the DT talent there even if the two I mentioned above were already gone.

I'd then start looking for a mismatch TE in the Aaron Hernandez mold, o-line help and start keeping an eye on the wide receiver talent available.

I'd probably be tempted to grab big Marcus Davis earlier than most based on his size / speed combo and hope that working with Andre would help him to realize his talent.

I'd also make sure to draft a QB who was also once drafted by a major league baseball team if there are any available.

Don't know nothin' about nothin', but the Bengals need a RB. I wonder if we could trade them Tate and our 2nd (and filler?) for their first. I really want Ogletree. We use our own first on a trench warrior.

    Mercilus-Cushing-Ogletree-Reed camp

Hopefully Ogletree gets #57 (not to put the cart before the horse :) )

    I like!

i have this bad feeling about ej manuel. his stock might rise because of kaepernicks success. the guy is already talking where he wants to get drafted as a BACKUP. i just feel a team will reach for this guy because of the mobile QB hypetrain and waste a pick. i hope the texans arent the team to gamble on him.. i dont know if hes going to be succesful or not but he seems pretty content with holding a clipboard..

Ehh..haven't started looking at the draft class in too much detail, but off the cuff, there aren't a lot of QBs who seem intriguing.

I'm not sure if anyone will break out. It's been a very unusual year to have as many young Qbs break out like happened this year. People need to remember that it's not that normal.

I've said it before, but they're not getting rid of Schaub or Yates and Kubes doesn't want 3 QBs on the roster. Because of that, they're not going to spend a draft pick on a QB which would basically force them to carry 3 QBs. We carried 3 when we drafted Yates because they weren't yet convinced Yates was ready to be a backup. But now that they know he can be, they're not interested in a 3rd QB. And probably won't be until Yates' contract is about to end and if they decide to bring another guy in.

That combined with what is supposed to be a weak 2013 QB class and our team needs at linebacker, OLine, DLine, and miscellaneous depth (players who would actually see the field, hopefully) and I'd be very surprised if the Texans spent a pick on a QB. Maybe they sign somebody to the practice squad (doubtful if they actually do like Keenum) but they're not going to spend a draft pick.

Glover quinn played mlb in nickel. After watching the patriots game it is clear our lbs need to be able to cover. Alec Ogletree is my hope in round 1. Lane Johnson or Terrance Williams would be good fall backs

    You can't trade compensation picks.

    That's hilarious.

Why should Uncle Bob hold his employees accountable when the fans keep buying the same product?

The Texans have many positions that they need to upgrade that they will not be able to do in free agency. They need starters at ILB, NT, ROT, S, slot CB, and WR. I would hope that they would explore trading TJ Yates and Ben Tate for picks to help them beef up their positions of need.

Looking at Compensatory picks this year, we should pick up a couple more picks. In free agency we lost..

3/16/2012 OT Mike Brisiel Signed by Oakland 5 years $20,000,000
3/17/2012 CB Jason Allen Signed by Cincinnati 2 years $8,200,000
3/15/2012 DE Mario Williams Signed by Buffalo 6 years $96,000,000
3/23/2012 TE Joel Dreessen Signed by Denver 3 years $8,500,000

    But added..

3/30/2012 P Donnie Jones Signed UFA- STL 1 year $890,000
4/13/2012 ILB Bradie James Signed UFA- DAL 1 year $890,000
6/4/2012 CB Alan Ball Signed UFA- DAL 1 year $700,000
6/4/2012 RB Justin Forsett Signed UFA- SEA 1 year $700,000

The loss of Mario Williams should net us a 3rd rounder. I could see maybe a 5th or 6th round as well for Brisiel or Dreessen.

If the Texans go QB then I can definitely see them going for Nassib. He is exactly the type of QB that fits into Kubiak's system.
