Same thing we experienced before we were born.

I'm rolling with eastern Buddhist philosophy, specifically the Tibetans, on this one.

When you die your body degenerates, game over.

Make the most out of it right now... You only live once.

Ya know, I'm a catholic but I firmly believe in evolution a d modern sciences profound theories. I have no doubt we're uncovering more of what there is to life but my faith is still strong and still with me. I do believe there is something that follows our mortal existence.

Or so they want you to think. No wonder people are so afraid to die, they're either afraid of eternal hellfire or the end of their existence.

I believe what Jeremy Lin and Tim Tebow believe. You can take that for what it's worth.

And it's worth it to go to heaven.

When I die, all time and space will cease to exist.

My afterlife will consist of people remembering me and the release of my energy back into the cosmos.

Before give it back to the universe, I will thank Mom, wife and kids for the journey.

I was going to say, "Beats the hell out of me!" (and it does), but your post made me remember something I do believe, which is very much akin to what you say about Parfit. I have two kids, a son about to graduate from college, and a daughter that's a junior in high school, and they never got to meet their grandfather, my Dad. He passed away before they were born, back when I was in my 30's. While they've been growing up, I've gone out of my way to talk about my father, whenever the opportunity seemed to present itself. And I've told them that we can keep people alive, in a sense, by continuing to recall what they did during their lives, what the impact was from their existence, and what they meant to the cat that's your father (me) and your mother, more to the point. So when I mention him today, they have a very good sense of the kind of man he was, what he did during the Great Depression, WWII, after the war, when he found a long and productive career in academia, his travels around the world consulting (which he did as much for the travel as for the money). He isn't a complete stranger to them, and he does live on, the ripples of his existence moving still in this world.

    Yeah, I like that idea.

Once this simulation has come to an end point for me - hopefully I'll get to see if I'm product of the dynamics of this universe simulation, or if my consciousness was seeded or uploaded into this simulation from a prior life/simulation as research, trial or a game of some sort.

EDIT: you asked but never said what you believe in bigtexxx? Inquiring minds want to know.

I really don't care what texxx thinks about it himself. It's a nice thread topic.

... to have missed the post-funeral celebration of no longer needing restraining orders.
