Lineup dropped last night. The lack of big headliners will scare off the bro crowd, but the undercard here is one of the best they'e had. Saturday in particular is ridiculously good with the XX, the Postal Service, Sigur Ros, Grizzly Bear, New Order, Hot Chip, Spiritualized, etc. Would be some tough conflicts to choose between on that day. How to Destroy Angels (Trent Reznor's new gig) will be making their live performance debut on Friday. I've got weekend 1 tickets already from the pre-sale last year, but don't think I'll be able to swing it with my wife's due date just a month later. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw New Order on the bill. I had no idea they did a reunion. I thought those guys were totally done and the last time they disbanded...it sounded like they would never play again. Brings back old memories of them playing at Astroworld with the entire crowd wigging and dancing. LOL. I'll have to hop over to Youtube and see if there are any recent videos. Still have a soft spot for New Order after all these years. Did they do a new album?
Yeah they have a new album out, called Lost Sirens. Sadly Peter Hook isn't part of this tour, which makes it a little less exciting. Still, I'd be dancing my ass off to New Order no matter who was up there playing.
Really fantastic undercard. But, man, Phoenix feels like a cop-out and screams "The headliner we wanted backed out at the last minute/would've cost too much money." I know the Rolling Stones were the big rumor. I never believed Daft Punk would play. Daft Punk:Coachella::Radiohead:ACL.
When was the last time Postal Service put out anything new. This looks like a great lineup. When is it?
I saw Phoenix there a few years ago, it was a great show but I won't be attending their main stage show. Too many other great acts on Saturday. I've seen Jonsi twice, so I'm really looking forward to Sigur Ros. The entire under-card Saturday is just amazing. I'm hoping there aren't too many conflicts, I'd see everyone on the second row...
Actually I just read something the other day where Ben Gibbard seemed to indicate they would not be recording a new album. If I find it I'll post the link.
