Patrick Patterson just sucks at basketball. That is quite honestly the bigger problem here. He is consistently inconsistent. Step up to the plate, and F'ing REBOUND. He should be getting 6-8 points every single night on offensive rebound putbacks ALONE. DO YOUR JOB... 6-9 with a Karl Malone body... REBOUND, BLOCK A SHOT, GET SOME FREE THROWS! A TECHNICAL!!! ANYTHING!!!
Saw you struggling here with a few people, I dont agree with all what you said, but I support you. Something is not right, they have to change it. We all agree Harden is the best player in this team, but he has flaw in his game, need to improve and change. Coaches used harden too much with 40 minutes a game, this will slowly destroy him. We need team work to win games.
No, it is the coach decision to has Harden ISO. If you have watched the games, you don't see that many ISO in the string of game they won. Lin and Harden were sharing the ball. They each were holding the ball and dictating what to do with it. There were a lot of screening for everyone. NOW, as far as I can see, Lin's primary function is takes the ball to half court and handed over to Harden as soon as Harden get to the half court, and then sit in the corner and wait. No screen from other players. Every one just wait for Harden's kickout
I didn't realize he defended at the 3 point line. Also, shooting 3's doesnt seem to keep Kevin Love from getting rebounds. Sorry, but there is no reason that Patterson does not rebound.
The way we've played in the recent losing stretch reverted back to the way we played from games 3 to 10. Lin brings the ball up over half court and dump it to Harden who goes to work. Harden shoots poorly, Lin shoots poorly, team does poorly, pace is slow, team loses. Lin loses playing time to Douglas. Coaches think problem is Asik and Lin not able to create spacing for Harden down the stretch (Asik not PnR target, Lin not consistent 3pt spot-up shooter). Games 3 to 10 had coaches fingerprints all over it, after installing the offense after the Harden trade. Pace goes down, offense stalls, FG% and assists goes down. When they went away from it (Lin initiates offense, teammates more involved) ... team started to play better, and then very well. Pace picks up, plenty of games with 6 or 7 in double figures, FG% is higher, team assists higher, and team wins (and in some games, BIG). Don't know why, but in January they went back to it games 3 to 10 style, and started to lose. Lin brings the ball up over half court and dump it to Harden who goes to work. Harden shoots poorly, Lin shoots poorly, team does poorly, pace is slow, team loses. Lin loses playing time to Beverley this time. Coaches think problem is Asik and Lin not able to create spacing for Harden down the stretch (Asik not PnR target, Lin not consistent 3pt spot-up shooter). Benches both. Even Parsons loses time to Delfino for even more 3pt shooting. Team chemistry is off. Holds players only dinner to go through issues. Focus probably defense and not enough 'team offense'. 2Pat names Harden not trusting system/teammates, roughly equating to him playing iso-ball. AND ... After all this ... to many posters here ... the problem is Patterson doesn't rebound, and Harden Shall Not Be Criticized??? Many of the posters don't understand you have to separate 2Pat the soft forward from 2Pat the mature and intelligent teammate in analyzing his statement. 2Pat has never complained or called out anybody in his time with the Rockets. When he lost his starting spot to Morris, he said he wants to win it back but was fine with it because Morris was playing well and the team was winning. He was very professional about it. 2Pat was the guy that kept DeMarcus Cousins in check at Kentucky. He's the guy many posters here said could help keep Cousins in check if we traded for him. He took a back-seat to Cousins at Kentucky despite being ready to declare for the draft, in the process dropping down in the lottery. He's as mature and team-oriented young guy you could get. So you guys don't wonder why of all people he could have called out, it was Harden our leading scorer and best player. Go back and read the context of what he said. It is meaningful, and probably represents at least a lot of truth.
P-Pat Paterson needs to live up to his position instead of keep stepping outside for the 3 points shot he needs to bang inside for layup/dunk and rebound.
Did the guy who's supposed to set screens just ask for screens? He forgot to mention how Asik ain't gettin those rebounds we need.
Yeah that was pretty funny, but his comments were fair. Harden doesn't do anything on defense for at least 3 quarters of a game. He puts effort in for the first two minutes of a game and the last two minutes and he keeps trying for too many stupid ISO bricks then jogs back on offense, hopes that someone else contests the shot, grabs the rebound, then he yells for the transition pass.
"We were in a kind of a funk offense,”... “We had to have ball movement; we had to have body movement. We’re not cutting, the ball’s sticking.” -KEVIN MCHALE he further added.. "If my dog hadn't eaten our playbook we'd have a really diverse offense and rely on ISO a lot less"
It would be nice if Lin played team defense..... hell it would be nice if anyone played team defense on the Rockets.
I think the problem is James Harden is trying to Live up to the contract that he signed... You could see from the first game that he was trying really hard to prove that he was worth it. Now he has proved that he is an All-star, which now validates his contract. Also, he probably knew that Houston needs to have a player at the ASG and he was the Rockets best chance. Now that he made the ASG i can see him relaxing and sharing the ball more - too bad we had to loose a bunch of games for him to put up those numbers on his inefficient play. Anyways, that is my conspiracy theory you can agree or not.
Yes and if Lin was black no one would give a **** about him, he would just be another borderline starter on a mediocre team.
