This was the concert for NY right after 9/11. The crowd was mostly firefighters and policemen, many of whom I'm sure had just recently lost friends.

I love seeing the shots of the crowd. They are SO into it. You can tell that song - for whatever reason - has great meaning to many of them and really resonates with them. You can just FEEL the energy, especially when you think about why the concert was being put on in the first place.

I still get chills just watching this.

 

I saw them during this tour at the Houston Music Hall in November of 1974. Talk about mind blowing! Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner just killin' it on guitar. Besides Sweet Jane, they did a lot of stuff from the Velvet Underground days, as well as songs from a very overlooked LP, Berlin. I got the set list from the link below, and it's what I remembered. Read it and weep.
