And more annihilation is on the horizon...

This is what happens when you become a regional party and have to play defense to keep your base. Dems are finally getting around to playing offense after winning the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 presidential elections.

It may not work in 2016, but it will work eventually. Demographics are destiny and the Repubs are not going to pivot anytime soon.

    Holy ****ing ****.

Exhibit A ladies and gentlemen. Commodore, this is why the Republican Party is suffering, and why it's impossible to engage them on real debates. Republicans must admonish this type of behavior.

I'm referring to current events. Obama wants to remove the debt ceiling entirely while the Republicans want a balanced budget before increasing it.

What's wrong with the GOP's stance?

If the GOP never explained which expenses they were going to cut and to what degree, are you sure that their plan would've increased the deficit?

I'm guessing they refused to explain their budget cuts b/c it would've been unpopular amongst voters (cuts to social security, medicare).

B/c its unfair to rich people if theirs is the only tax bracket that increases.

Wekko, why are Republicans champions of fiscal responsibility when under a Republican adminstration taxes were cut while two wars were started and needed to be funded? Please explain how that is fiscal responsibility.

Yes, the CBO and every independent analyst who looked at this said that. Also - it's just common sense - the "plan" to "balance" the budget was premised on more massive tax cuts, and even in the candyland fantasy scenario, didn't get to a balanced budget UNTIL THE YEAR 2041.

    [/QUOTE]

Yes, that's part of the reason why they never specified what they were. OF course, in a negotiation, over what you want, refusing to specify, is a crippling debilitation and makes you beyond useless.

Um, not if it's too low in the first place (which all the evidence indicates is true, and why we have the most unequal division of income in 100 years)

Again, I've notedt his before - in a deficit situation, Republicans implement policies that increase share of rich to unparalleled proportion and help raise deficit to new hights.... Now when it comes time to pay for them (it's acutally *NOT* time to pay for them, but if you want to pretend it is, fine), the only people who have the resources to do it are rich....who else is going to pay for them? The poor, in the name of "fairness"?

Teacher, let me tell you a little story
    Just this morning
    My wife and I
Went to the hotel in the hills
    That's right
    The Bel-Air Hotel
Where a very good friend of ours
    Happens to be staying
And the name of that young man
    Is Mr. Bruce Springsteen
    That's right, yeah
Oh, we talked about some kind of woodblock or something
And this new guitar we like
And you know what he said to me
I'll tell you want he said to me
    He said, "Rand, I'm tired.
How would you like to be the Boss for awhile?"
    Well, yeah
    Blow, big man, blow

    My life is good

Neither of these things is true. This is exactly why people don't take the GOP and their supporters seriously. You speak in platitudes that are completely contradicted by the evidence.

Do you just make things up? Removing the debt ceiling does not allow the government to spend at will. It only allows the government to pay the bills already authorized by Congress.

And the GOP doesn't want a balanced budget before increasing the debt ceiling. That's 100% made up nonsense.

Nope, I didn't make anything up. I'm just looking at it differently than you are.

Look at it this way. If the debt ceiling couldn't be raised anymore, don't you think that would influence which bills Congress would authorize?

I thought the GOP wanted budget plans from the House and Senate before suspending the borrowing limit?

I've been reading bits and pieces of different articles so I could very easily be wrong.

Sadly I wouldn't be so quick to crow. Jeb's son who is half Mexican just raised over $ a million in one week just talking about running for office in Texas. He will be a useful token.

You can never count out the GOP and their backers with their billions.

I'm not crowing, just stating facts. Texas is changing and the Republicans are not. As long as those two things continue to happen, Texas will eventually become a swing state. Sure, some personality could rise up and delay it, but it is interesting we're talking about a guy named Bush instead of major policy changes within the party and we're talking about how much money he's raised from the networks developed by Granpa, Daddy, and Uncle instead of what he thinks or how he connects with voters who won't automatically vote for him because of his last name.
