Listening to the interview, it's feels like White doesn't trust McHale yet, and that IMO makes him deem McHale as being unqualified to make medical decisions.

By contrast, he was willing to follow Hoiberg during college despite the fact that Hoiberg had no medical expertise or knowledge, outside of a "heart condition" that gave him insight into others' illnesses.

And White definitely doesn't come off as being humble. He talks of how "we" (he and the Rockets) were doing this and figuring out that. It seems like he likes/wants to see himself as being on an equal plane with the managers, which may be where the "co-worker" comments come from.

Overall, he seems to me to be an intelligent, well-spoken young man with a fairly big dose of ego and insecurity.

You just have to stop paying him and he wises up, just like you take away the toys from a toddler.

Gah! I don't know how to feel about this. This guy is such a distraction, and that's bad for a team that can ill afford to suffer any more distractions.

In order to call someone a co-worker, don't you actually have to go to, ya know, "work"?

At this point, from McHale's POV, Keith Jones has a better chance of playing PF for the Rockets this season than Royce does. lol

Most of us all know Royce is gonna be a bust. As much as I like Morey, he needs to own up on this mistake. STOP saying he is a top 5 talents when every statistically analysis says otherwise.

The only statistical catagory Royce led in NCAA was TOs/game.

I believe his point was that in college Hoiberg was in a position that allowed him to make decisions for Royce. The hierarchy in the NBA is much different and an NBA coach has much less say in basketball operations, etc.

In other words, Hoiberg is Morey, Morey is Murray, McHale is nobody, and Finkle is Einhorn.

No it is not. His co-workers are his teammates. McHale is his boss. Morey is McHale's boss and Alexander is Morey's boss.

Do you work in a business environment? Do you regularly take work direction from your co-workers or your boss? Do your co-workers sign off on your performance review or does your boss?

Except that White's been arguing McHale/Morey/Rockets should not be making decisions for him because they aren't medically qualified to do so.

Yet he let Hoiberg have a say in the decision-making process despite the fact Hoiberg does not have a medical degree. But according to White, Hoiberg's heart condition gave him the ability to empathize with White's mental illness, and that was good enough for Royce.

2 and 2 is whatever number White wants it to be.

this is the NBA not college

The coach is not the boss

The coach is not the boss of Lebron Kobe

Players can get a coach fired

Players are expected to listen to the coach during practice and games. Players certainly have input, however the coach has the final say - even if the final say originally comes from a player or players.

Also, Royce White is not Lebron or Kobe.

Players CAN get a coach fired. Workers in a business environment CAN get their boss fired. That doesn't change the fact that the coach is the boss of the players.

I think what matters from the Rockets perspective - is can they get the kid to play and to be an addition to the team versus a distraction.

White waving a victory flag whether or not it's real is immaterial. It's better for him to walk in feeling as a victor than a loser.

I was firmly against drafting White as I think it was a massive risk. But the organization knew his history and there is no excuse for them to say this was all unexpected. They have dealt with it well as they could, but I don't feel any sympathy for them. They took this on and you reap what you sow.

Whether he deceived or not is immaterial. The fact is, he BELIEVES he is in the right - and that is what you have to deal with. No one is going to bend his perception of reality. You can only choose to work with it or not.

Now - do I think White is going to work out? I have no clue. But either way, I am not going to feel disappointed of frustrated. Because I thought it was a mistake to begin with. But he's here. And we might as well see what you can work out with him.

Coworker technically can mean anyone who works in the same company as you. A coworker can also be your boss.

But given Royce's usage, he seems to use coworker as being equivalent to "equals".
