What do we have to understand? He's crazy! He acts crazy. Normal people don't like crazy people. That's why we have mental institutions.

maybe his first day of practice in RGV he will blow his ACL and then we can cut him. DM would have an out and not get sued and Royce can get his insurance payout. Everybody wins!!!

I've been a Royce supporter even though he has not handled this situation well. He appears to be an intelligent, genuine kid who is just struggling with his mental issues, maturity, and an inflated sense of self.

I applaud the Rockets professionalism and patience, and hopefully, upon reflection, so will Royce. I think once he settles in (if he settles in) he will realize he is in the right place to succeed.

Hopefully, this works out and he comes in with something to prove and plays like a man on a mission.

Whoa... First time hearing Royce in an interview...

Have to say, despite his idiocy on twitter, he sounds pretty inelligible.

I like your attitude about this, and I wish I was still there, but you know I am not sure I am any more.

It seems like Royce just has serious anxieties/fears. Playing in the NBA is probably one of the most high pressure, intense jobs you could have - even apart from the flying demanded. A protocol might help calm his anxieties, but I think ultimately his anxieties will be unpredictable and prone to getting out of control.

I do find it odd that so many people seem to think that Royce White sounds intelligent, he doesn't come off that way to me at all. He comes off as a naive child with a very flawed idea of how the world works.

Could it be possible his therapists (hopefully) are helping him come to his senses.

I for one could forgive him if this happens.

Who knows if he can actually make the roster.

He has sure made it harder on himself by his behavior..

I think that is in fact what Royce is saying. That without some sort of protocol to address his anxiety is will blow-up. I think he is essentially saying this is how he can control his anxiety. He sounds like an intelligent and articulate man, who is aware he has irrational problems.

Regardless, it's worth trying. Why worry about it? At this point, we should all be happy that some sort of progress looks like it is being made.

For the rest of you who call him lazy and whatnot - I'd say you be better served waiting until you see what his actual work-ethic is when he is integrated into the organization. If the guy is mentally ill, and at this point, he deserves the benefit of the doubt, then your reactions are actually demonstrating how little tolerance there is for mental illness and actually really does justify everything he's been saying ironically.

except it doesn't sound like he has changed his tune at all. rather it sounds like the organization, players association, and the NBA have put something together to address his issues.

Maybe he operates with a European-style 24 hour clock and is actually only halfway through his shenanigans?

So if protocols are put in place to help him with the issues he knows about currently, what does he do when he has unforseen issues arise that don't have protocols in place to cover? Does he leave the team for 2 months again until new protocols are established?
