Trade for J Smooth now and use him to draw in Howard. Harden, Howard, and Smith would be tough.

I've been lurking around a lot of forums and it seems a popular idea is Gasol or Dwight for Lin + Parsons + filler, or Lin + Asik + filler.

Hmm I wonder if Morey will go for the 2nd superstar.

He's definitely looking for a second superstar. He's said as much in interviews. It's just a matter of time and opportunity when he makes the move, and who the move gets us.

Guys wanna hear a crazy trade which works but dont see it happening. 3 team trade ATL/ HOU/ LAL

Houston Out: 2Pat, Asik, Lin, Douglas, White, Aldrich, Delfino, Morris
Houston IN: Howard, J.Smith, Morrow, D. Morris, Sacre

LaL Out: Howard, D Morris, Sacre
LaL In: Al Horford, T. Douglas, White, Aldrich

Atl out: Al Horford, J. Smith, Morrow
Atl In: Lin, Asik, 2Pat, Delfino, Morris

Rockets starting 5 would be: LaL Starting 5:

    Beverley / D. Morris Nash / Blake / Douglas
Harden / Morrow Kobe / Meeks
Parson / TJ Artest / Ebanks
    J Smith / Donuts Gasol / White
Howard / Sacre Al Horford / Hill / Alfrich

now this would be a BLOCKBUSTER TRADE which would shake up entire Season. (but dont know how it would work out with Cap. Maybe Bima might out some insight on it)

Houston trade: Patterson, Morris, Douglas, and delfino

Pistons trade: jerebko, daye, and English.

Jerebko is an upgrade from Patterson and Morris. Daye can back up parsons. Daye needs a new scenery considering he is seldom used. English can replace Douglas and back up harden, giving Beverly the back up pg spot. Throw im a future draft pick to pistons. Thoughts?

Yes he has... Which leads me to believe that the Rockets will not bring in a BIG NAME player by the trade deadline.

I don't have any elaborate trade ideas, but I would rather the Rockets just stand pat as far as giving someone a max contract. Josh Smith, Milsap, Jefferson, etc. are all good players but none of them are elite. I would be happy if the Rockets brought in a low price tag guy like Landry to play the PF (with the hopes T. Jones, D-Mo, or Royce White develops). And add a guy like J.J. Redick who would fit perfect with this team and he wouldn't come with a high price tag.

Landry and J.J. are two guys they can add during the off season who wouldn't cost the team much and it strengthens the team at their two weakest positions.

Here's a trade I'm not sure I'd advocate, or one that's necessarily going to happen:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=b65b82x

    Lakers:
Lakers get some relief from Gasol's contract. While the players they receive may not necessarily be perfect fits next to Dwight, there's a possiblity it could workout and they do need a bench.

    Kings:
Marketing. The Kings are moving to Seattle, an area with a great deal of Asian influence. Furthermore, on this team Lin would be able to dominate the ball like he did during the prime of Linsanity. For a team that needs to build a fanbase and that will likely be struggling, this is a great way to put fans in the arena.

    Rockets:
As Bima explained (somewhere) Gasol doesn't really limit the Rocket's cap room, it just delays it for a year. While he's been struggling, I think Gasol still has some in the tank and is being improperly utilized. Worst comes to worst, we ship him next year as a massive expiring contract.

Also, we reduce a bit of a logjam at PF, and get a point guard who can probably play off Harden better.

Gasol may or may not have something left, but you're keeping Asik and Smith. Both of those guys are low post only players(85%+ of shots @ rim). At least Bynum took 40% of his shots away from the rim which gave Gasol a chance to play @ the low block. With the new system Howard is taking 75% of his shots @ the rim. The last two years Howard only took 60%-65% of his shots @ the rim. Basically Gasol worked with Bynum because they usually didn't get in each others way. With Howard they're pushing Gasol farther out of the paint. So Gasol + Asik/Smith probably wouldn't work. Just my opinion.

You make a fair point. There's a chance that Asik and Gasol get in each other's way, but the way I see it Gasol is talented enough to make the risk worth it.

Also, and I'll admit that this is pure conjecture, but given his experience in Europe and international play, Asik might be a bit more flexible when playing with a versatile big. Him and Gasol may not fit perfectly, but I think they could adapt long term, and worse comes to worse we can trade Gasol's big expiring.

Gasol and Asik together would be like Dwight and Gasol in LA version 2.0 It would be a disaster. If we did get Gasol, ideally, he would be the starting center playing with a stretch 4 (Morris) and he would excel because he is excellent playing close to the rim. His passing is also very good and would generate a lot of open looks to our wing players. Asik would probably come off the bench and provide elite defense again without needing to worry about fouls.

I think we need to move Douglas while he still has value. Beverly is looking good. Not sure what PF we could get for Douglas/Pat or Morris tho.
