you can't read someone's heart, its subjective so...enough with that. Maybe he's just an average/ok/decent coach and nothing more or less.
As far as I'm concerned, this guy gets a pass even if we lose the rest of our games. I can't fathom losing a daughter and then just saying "ok, let's get back to work, guys..." and traveling with a bunch of basketball players around the country and away from your immediate family.
I kind of expected Lin to get benched but he and the team stepped it up on defense in the second half. Lin/Asik held Kemba to 5pts until Beverly came in and then Kemba scored consecutive 3's to finish the quarter. What's to say that Lin wasn't going to contribute anything in the 4th? Sometimes, when a player is given the opportunity to work through his mistakes, he can get better as the game progresses. I have no problems with Beverly, he's been a great spark and he's extremely hungry and humble.
By the logic used in the OP post, I guess Rudy T and JVG both didn't care about coaching either. And in what world does a person lose sleep over something he doesn't care about?
I hope its not rubbing off on the players. They could rally around it and play fearless or it could just be depressing them too
Questioning his heart is not me saying the man has no passion... I'm saying that passion is missing right now BECAUSE of his recent loss, because he has more IMPORTANT things on his mind. Not that he is gutless...wtf? He's brave enough to finish out the season, but he's not 100% in it, imo. Who in the right mind would be after losing their daughter.
i dont agree with the premise of your thread, mchale just sucks as a coach whether his daughter died or not, but i do agree that you that a lot of posters misinterpreted what you meant when you said his heart is not into coaching, not that he is gutless or doesnt have a heart. that part i agree with. Americans have a lot of trouble comprehending the english language.
He is by no means decent. I just learned about his misconducts back in Minny, now I start to perceive his doubtful substitutions here in Rox. He wants to take shortcut without putting in real efforts. He gambled on throwing in so-called hot hands to gain some quick wins, with no real efforts of brain works on how to solve problems from deep root and how to install a system or create an identity, which requires real hard work and won't bring about immediate results, though good for the long run. But long run is too long for him and honest hard work is dispensable when it comes to quick wins. His speculative moves are in consistency with his mindset as back in Minny. He may be okay, he may be average, but he is by no means decent. --------- another issue I have with him is accountability. He blames everyone except himself. I don't plan to elaborate on this by myself, just share one quote from a Chinese forum. On that forum one poster wrote, 'there are two things I won't miss, one is watching Lakers lose another game, and the other is watching Mcfail trashing his players during post-games.'
I didnt read the entire thread, but ultimately no, I don't believe his heart is in coaching. I do believe he entered his tenure w/the Rox with the best intentions, but lets face it, he was likely more content as a TV analyst... which he was good at more or less. And I don't blame him for wanting another stab at being "part of a team," he's a naturally competitive guy... But is he a hungry NBA coach? I really don't believe so. I've always remained skeptical on why McHale
i never even mentioned that game.....playing time is earned? ok.....grow up. beverly is fresh feet so he better perform when inserted, glad he did well, idiot! please explain where i was so ridiculous?
I don't give a rat's ass about his heart...what I do care about is his knowledge as a coach. Unfortunately, he is lacking in that area.
his daughter was still alive when he coached minnesota McHale is who we always knew he was, and thats not a coach
That's an easy one. You are comparing Jeremy Lin to Russell Westbrook, a top 15 player in the league... and your calling me an idiot? And yes playing time is earned, and when a player on this team is stinking it up on both ends of the court, the coaches have every right to bench his a#$.
Well considering that a great deal of posters here actually believe that the difference between Lin and Harden is that "Harden gets to shoot more," this is only a natural comparison. And anyone who contests this reasoning is referred to 38pt Spurs game as "proof." Obviously ignoring the earlier Utah game in which Harden was injured, because Lin sucked in that game. Hence, that game is ignored, as is every other instance when Harden was on the bench and Lin couldn't muster up Linsanity mode.
Every coach has hes own style, yeah. To coach a young team with only one star and bunch of .....s, we are lucky to be in around .500. So please be happy for the coach. I don't understand why all the complains.
So if beard length is inversely proportional to caring about basketball, imagine if James Harden started caring!
