It's another way of getting to know their player Lin - what motivates him, what skills he acquired, etc. I think it is important that the coaches know what makes all of their players tick.
It's obvious. The coaches don't know enough about Jeremy Lin. From this video that Clutch posted: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JFXwHlBoj50" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> to the countless other questions he must field about Lin's surprising slow start I'm sure they would love to sit down with a big bowl of popcorn and watch hear more about Jeremy Lin. In their free time.
I don't think anyone can know everything about anybody much less the busy coaches with 15 players. If they choose not to watch the film, I'm perfectly fine with it. I just wish they would.
That clip is interesting where McHale says he isn't "that worried" about Lin. That was a very weak endorsement. And saying "what else can we do? He starts every play with the ball." is a pretty clear sign Lin shouldn't look to the coaches for a way out of this slump. He figures it out or he watches Beverley from the bench.
It'll be interesting to see which Rockets players go. It'll be an interesting experience for some of the younger guys to rub elbows with the celebrities there. There's usually a gaggle of Hollywood stars who go there to keep up their "independent" and "artiste" street cred.

LOVE that video! The music made me sad though... it's not the celebratory type... Yes, I hope we experience those moments in the Rockets uniform, too.
