    We were talking about this in the Vipers game thread last night...

    He only played 12 minutes in last night's game against the Texas Legends and played poorly (0-4 from the field and a -19 +/-). The Vipers also have a game tomorrow, so they wouldn't fly him here for a day of practice and then fly him back.

    I wonder what the reasoning is here.

    imminent trade? Patterson's foot bothering him?

    most likely the second combined with the coaching staffs awfully late realization that on a regular basis (with exception games), Marcus Morris is mostly a non-factor on the inside

    Now is the time for them to put him in the rotation. With the recent struggles of Pats and Morris, Jones should definitely get some PT. They need to just throw him out there and let him work.

    Jones is gonna provide us the rebounding PF we need right now..

    we may be spared from making a poor trade for a better PF bc of his play. I am hopeful

    Rebounding is not his forte. He likes to camp at the three point line and pass the ball if a defender is within 50 feet of him.

    Two practices in Houston Today and Thursday seem like a good reason. Only a short hop over to NO on Friday with another home game on Saturday. That's alot of time at home before the Utah/Denver road trip... when him and D-Mo could both be sent back down again instead of going on the road.

    As for trades, I just dont see a small move like Patterson or Morris getting moved having any real urgency right now. A team looking to acquire either one would probably prefer to wait to see if anyone better comes available in the coming weeks first.

    Speculation: I imagine that Jones hasn't given it his all at RGV practices. The coach down their decided to say screw Rockets player development, and he wants to play the guys down here that hustle at practice and give it their all in games.

    I know Morey stated that he wanted TJ to find his "niche", but I think the most pressing concern with him is that he needs to learn how to get himself going once his first shot doesn't fall. He tends to just give up, if his offense is not good.
