If Lin doesn't follow, the guy goes by. PNR defender is not helping out at all. Everyone was right this team plays no Defense.

Defense sucks period. Lin getting owned at the rim. Harden playing r****ded. Asik being gay as hell. Parsons is the only bright spot today.

 

We are going to win this game.

And sweet muscular Jesus, can Asik block a damn shot instead of standing like a stiff with his arms up and let PGs drive right into his body for a layup?

 

Yeah I know. That is why I am not even mad right now at anybody. This team is just flawed. We aren't a half court team at all we have to get back to our running game but it seems like teams have figured out our running game.

Are you even watching the game? Lin has been blocked like 3 times, parsons once & Harden twice. Rockets need a PF who can block shots too. Tired of seeing our guards getting blocked left & right by athletic bigs.

 

Lin would still get blocked my Candice Parker.

 

That makes ZERO sense.

When you encounter a pick, only one of three things can happen.

1) Go under the screen (leaving an open jumper)
2) Go over the screen, leaving the other player a full step ahead of you on the drive.
3) Drive through the screen and get an offensive foul.

Lin is going over the screen, which means it's the responsibility of a secondary defender (usually the guy who's GUARDING the pick) to Hedge the opposite side and SWITCH if the PnR ball handler continues to drive, or to stay on his man if the PnR Roller starts to roll.

If Lin went under the screen, it's the responsibility of the Pick Defender to step up OVER the screen on the opposite side to Contest the jump shot.

It's not like Lin is getting crossed over a ton or beat off the dribble a ton, he's getting Picked like every other Defender in the game gets Picked. It's the Help Defense that determines whether that PnR play will be successful.

This is why you saw Beverly get picked multiple times. It's why you're seeing other Rockets players get picked multiple times. Our PnR defense sucks. It's that simple, and that's not an effort thing for the most part, it's a lack of defensive communication and proper work on Defense in practice by the Coaches.

As for having your shot blocked, Biyombo has blocked FOUR shots. When there's a shot blocker in the paint, you either have to Alter your shot (for a more difficult shot), OR you have to have someone DRAW him out of the paint by taking them to the perimeter.

The Rockets are doing neither... they're not pulling Biyombo out of the paint, leaving the driving players on their own, leaving them with tougher low percentage shots.

There's basically breakdowns on the Offense AND the Defense.

Part of it is on the individual players, a LOT of it is on the Coaches as they're the ones that determine the defensive assignments and offensive play sets.

This team is a mess right now, and it's not all due to effort. They're trying to switch and move, they are doing some off the ball cutting, however the offense and defense are obviously not on the same page.

 

Highly doubt it but maybe they'll make adjustments and we'll go away with a mental victory bc the coaching staff actually made adjustments.

 

Growing pains. Also, this game is not over yet.
