I think it's more likely he's just nuttier than squirrel poop and/or an a**hole than someone willing to make up and perpetuate a lie about being nuttier than squirrel poop just so he can have an excuse to be lazy.
Royce is really spiralling out of control. No way this would end well for him. I doubt even the NBA Players' Association would side with him. Sure, he can have the protocol put in, but if a psychologically unstable person cannot play consistently, what team would take a chance on him?
He is just a kid. I don't know why his staff is doing this to him... I think the only thing they might get is some money from law suits. They are not on his side... What a moron world...

Those recent tweets are too much, but as respectful fans i ask everybody to not bash him. Even if he's bashing the rockets fron't office, we're bigger then to sit here and to talk mess and send him hateful tweets.
Why do you not believe him to be a scam artist? Need more evidence? 1) He lied to the Rockets about his fear of flying. He said that it was not going to be a problem. 2) He signed a contract, then thought the money was guaranteed to him no matter what and THEN started making demands to amend the contract and refused to work. Can you imagine 2) in any regular work setting? He clearly thinks (and has stated) he will get the money from the contract under ADA laws and must have gotten advice in that direction. He is not interested in an NBA career, unless he gets more special treatment than any other player in the league. He is interested in getting all the money out of this contract - and erroneously thinks that he will then be set for life. Regarding his argument that his alleged condition is "just like a broken toe (or whatever the example was), just that you cannot see it": I believe there is precedent that if someone hides a medical condition from a future employer, there can possibly be reasons to void his contract. Obviously, he would argue that he didn't hide anything - the pre-draft video might actually have been done with that in mind already, to build a case. That's what a scam artist with a scam advisory team would do. Now, with visible medical conditions, there is a medical check done to see if the player will be able to fulfill his contract. I guess there is no such check yet for mental conditions. But if the regular medical check reveals that a player will not be able to play as an NBA player for medical reasons, he will not get a contract. Because his alleged condition is not visible/there is no standardized test to find out about how severely a mental condition will impact a player's ability to perform his duties under the contract he is paid for, the Rockets could not do a "mental medical" before the contract signing to protect them from this risk, so he thinks he has them screwed and can now do whatever he wants, claiming it is all related to his alleged mental condition, and still get the money. It's like a guy who is in a wheelchair somehow tricking a team into signing him to an NBA contract - except that that would never happen because it's a visible and obvious condition. But since his alleged condition is not visible, he was able to trick the Rockets into drafting and signing him. Of course, he waited to act up and make his demands just until after his contract was signed - and was miraculously able to participate in training camp and summer league when he thought he could not be sure yet to get all the money. That is what a scam artist does. He claims to be fighting for people suffering from mental health conditions. But the truth is that he is a very, very low character guy who is only fighting for himself - a laptop thief who is all about himself. He doesn't care about teammates, the team, fans. He only cares about getting as much as possible out of this. It is clear that, if anything, this will lead to teams doing screening/standardized tests for mental health to rule out running into signing a scam artist like this ever again. So he is actually severely hurting the chances of actually mentally ill people to ever get a chance like this again. But he doesn't care. He only cares about himself.
P.S.: He is complaining about the Rockets having leaked that letter when it was apparently he himself who made it visible during the taping of his TV interview. Then he attacks Jonathan Feigen. It's always everyone else's fault in his twisted mind.
I just don't see why any sane person or organization would cave in to the demands of a mentally ill (or I'd like to call him greedy) POS? It's like a dumb homeless guy demanding me for something. If I give him what he wants, that just means I'm stupid.
Not that you and I need to beat this into the ground any further, as it is clear we have wildly differing views on morality/ethics, right/wrong, crime/punishment. Scam artist = sets out with the intent to dupe people, has end-game of obtaining something under false pretenses. Psychopath = dupes people along the way, usually unaware or unable to see that what they're doing is duplicitous or wrong. Not sure I can lay it out much simpler than that. But I'm definitely sure we shouldn't discuss such matters anymore, as it only leads to us arguing in absolute vain. I think Royce is mentally unstable and probably a selfish jerk to boot, but I don't think this is the result he wanted from the start, or that his master plan was to do nothing and get paid dollar dollar bill y'all.
No, it's fine to discuss, because I am educating you and you can learn from me. I am taking the time to do this. You are welcome. As to your description above: It is not black and white. He is a mix of both. You can have low or no awareness of the fact that what you are doing is wrong and still be a scam artist.
I had to go there... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>“@<a href="https://twitter.com/izakdavid13">izakdavid13</a>: “@<a href="https://twitter.com/factsionary">factsionary</a>: Every 50 seconds, a laptop is stolen.”Royce White @<a href="https://twitter.com/highway_30">highway_30</a> Faints!!!”<a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23BeWell">#BeWell</a> friend...</p>— Royce White (@Highway_30) <a href="https://twitter.com/Highway_30/status/292399559609569280" data-datetime="2013-01-18T22:34:22+00:00">January 18, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
No, his plan was to either be treated like a total diva OR to do nothing and get paid dollar dollar bill y'all. If you are saying there was no plan/this was not premeditated, then how do you explain that he acted normal until his deal was signed? If you really were mentally ill to an extent that there is no way you could function, could you even do that?
Some idiot compared him to MLK Rob van Gameren@RobVanGameren @Highway_30 In 20 years we look back to this and we conclude that you were the Martin L. King of the NBA. Except you're alive and rockin! Retweeted by Royce White
And the more telling thing is that he actually isn't embarrassed to re-tweet that...what a douchelord.
What he's done is exactly the opposite, unless by awareness he means people are now aware that anxiety is a red flag that a player can't be relied upon. He seems to think being an advocate means forcing others to accept his limitations, rather than demonstrating he can overcome them.
Spot on. No one has done more to torpedo his cause than himself. Everyone with mental illness seeking fairness, understanding, and compassion is being done a huge disservice by White.
