bledsoe is expiring contract and odom on 1 year deal i think. Their team is set they arent making any big moves and the money thats people will offer to bledsoe in FA is more than they have to pay due to new cap rules and taxes

Bledsoe is not an expiring. Odom is playing well lately. Tax argument doesn't make much sense, considering that the deal above hurts the Clippers financially and basically puts the them into tax once you account for CP3's new contract.

Hmm your theory is Clippers can't afford to pay their back up PG (Bledsoe) big money so let's give them a PG (Lin) who gets $8,000,000.00 per year.

Too many moving parts with 4 teams, and too biased in favor of Houston, doesn't make sense for other teams.

Houston can't trade a 1st to Minn, owed to Atlanta from 2013 to 2017 conditionally. You have Houston getting Love in return for a mediocre to garbage grab bag. Not happening.

Why would Minn trade for Millsap when they can sign him as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason without giving up any assets? 11M isn't even the max, which means they either have to overpay or risk losing him in the off-season if they trade for him now. Also, they're not winning it all this year. Prime reason to gun for the playoffs is to keep Love from being disaffected and asking for a trade. So pointless to try to trade for Millsap and make the playoffs if you lose Love. No way they're trading Love before his expiring season, especially not for garbage back. Millsap is not a valuable part of the trade, since he's an unrestricted free agent in the summer and can be signed by any team without trade.

Same problem with Al Jefferson to Atl. Jefferson will also be an unrestricted free agent, so same scenario as Millsap. Why would Atl trade for him if they can just sign him without trading for him in the offseason?

No one is going to give up anything of significant value for either unrestricted free agent.

Here are the reasons for trading for a player who will become an unrestricted free agent in the off-season:

    1) Expiring salary dump that you will release and not resign
    2) Max contract worthy player whose bird rights you want so you can give them a higher offer than any other team with extra years and bird raises, e.g. Dwight Howard.
    3) Stopgag player that you need for playoff push and worry about the off-season later and whether you want to (or can) re-sign them or not. And you're willing to lose assets and sacrifice future for this push, especially if your main players are aging with limited years left for such a push, e.g. Lakers with Ramon Sessions.
    4) To meet mininum team salary level by season's end
    5) To be able to re-sign using bird rights or non-bird exception due to being capped out, and to stock up for win-now window while in luxury tax hell.

Millsap, Josh Smith, Al Jefferson will all be unrestricted free agents. So the scenarios you created for them don't fit any of these conditions. No one will trade anything significant for them since they can be lost to another team unless you intend to overpay and give them max with bird rights. Any team that wants them will sign them in the off-season, without giving up any important assets to do so (certainly not Kevin Love).

All 3 of them may be traded, but not for a king's ransom. The Utah and ATL situations have them trading risks with unrestricted free agents. But you have Houston making out like a bandit, and Minnesota getting fleeced for no reason. Not happening. Love is not going to be traded for an unrestricted Millsap. And Houston is not getting Love without giving up a superstar package like the Harden package. Even if you had such a package (Lotto pick Jeremy Lamb + Kyle Lowry in the form of guaranteed lotto Toronto Pick + Kevin Martin + another Dallas 1st round pick + bobcat 2nd which is better than a late 1st), you would still not get Love since Minnesota is in no hurry to trade him before his expiring year to see if they can get him to resign.

I think the Rockets should try to trade for Danny Granger. He has a great inside and outside game and an excellent three point shooter.

Maybe Lin and one of our 4s for Millsap and Utah 1st rounder (maybe GS 1st rounder, too) and we send the picks with T. Douglas for Bledsoe.

    Or maybe not.

No the theory is if / when Paul walks Lin is a better long term fit and draw with Giffin, Jordon, and Crawford for years to come than Bledsoe. If Paul stays than Lin = 6th man of the year with big that can catch & finish... Lin makes the same money slotted for Odom this season; PLUS would Billups come back IF they had Lin (there is 1/2 of Lin's salary)? To help them cut pay roll and help them say yes --> pull Patterson and put in D-Mo/Jones/Morris OR White. They don't really have a bad contract to take on so here we are. Maybe a thrid team is need?

(Playing well or not) I do not want Odom in our locker room --> we are a very young team

I'd much rather keep Bledsoe AND a ton of money/flexibility than Lin and Patterson (or Morris or whatever). I don't see how Lin is a better fit at all. If they do that deal, i think they get worse now, they lose on potential, hurt their financial situation a lot and lose on assets.

Is there only me who thinks LAC would have accepted this trade instantly? To get potential star PF and asian market for an oldie and average PG is too much..

We sacrifice the Center position in the short term to get our future PF while maintaining cap room and increase the chance to get a much better Center.

We then sign Smoove's good friend Dwight Howard in free agency.

    Next seasons projected roster:

    Lin/Beverley
    Harden/Anderson
    Parsons/Delfino
    Smith/DMo/TJones
    Howard/Smith

Any chance Drew Gooden getting amnestied by Bucks? I'm sorry bringing out Drew frigging Gooden's name with our beloved Rockets but he could be our cheap inside scoring option. If we're not getting an elite inside scoring option( it's not josh smith) he can help us to get into playoffs with hi scoring ability without hurting Rockets cap situation.

Let's talk about future, is there a chance to get another PF on draft like Anthony Bennett? This is the guy who can bang and rebound, we can organize some trades to this point leaving Smith or D-Mo and adding Bennett, then trading PPat/Morris/Douglas/draft picks/Delfino(?) for solid PG(or SF) and some solid bench player.

I like this, but i don't know if morey's ready to ship out lin though so soon. I honestly think the way to turn this team back around is to fire McHale and trading lin and our 4's.

Douglas is a great 3pt shooter, shooting around 40% he could actually be our starter next to harden believe it or not. Its a big step but he plays good D, has a solid backup in beverley and seems like he would really embrace becoming a starter and actually step up to the occasion.

Lin and either Patterson or Morris for Milsap would be great for us, it free's us over 10 mill in cap space for us in the offseason. And Utah, even with that trade would still have around 28 Million in FA this offseason, while having there C Kanter - PF Favors - SF/SG Hayward and - PG Lin for the future set in place.
