Here is a clip from the HBO special - very similar to the scenarios I'm suggesting: HBO Real Sports: Royce White
If only that was what happened. According to these reports, Royce signed up, AND THEN decided that he wanted to insert a 'protocol' to govern mental health which was exclusively his domain. Erm, no.

Oh god....I can't even watch him speak now. In the end, tt doesn't really matter want he says. In your scenario where a doctor of the team deems the player fit and the player refuses to play, the team suspends a player and the NBPA counters it, and then lawyers decide. It's not in the CBA...to answer you question #protocol
He needs to elaborate on how the letter was "extremely inaccurate", although I doubt he will do so. Dr. Fink: http://www.aaronhfinkmd.com/dr-fink.php What's the info on Royce's doctor?

More importantly - why is Royce sitting on a booster seat? And is that his house? If so, it's pretty nice. Also, LOL at the new preppy outfit/hairstyle/clean shave. I see what you're doing. Well played, Royce.
What a stupid *******. He should've never mentioned the letter in the first place. You opened the box, dumb****.
Should the Rockets post armed guards around the office and the players? He should abuse mar1juana some more.

Not sure if this is supposed to be a new thread and i haven't seen this posted anywhere but this is an article from SI's Ben Golliver on Royce White's interview and situation. Apparently he has seen an advanced screening of the interview. http://nba.si.com/2013/01/19/rockets-royce-white-mental-health-protocol-hbo/?sct=uk_t11_a5 "A Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel feature on Royce White, set to air on HBO on Tuesday, reveals documents that shed new light on the rookie forward’s dispute with the Rockets. SI.com obtained an advance copy of the feature, which includes an on-camera interview of White conducted by Bernard Goldberg, excerpts from a five-page letter sent to White by Rockets GM Daryl Morey in November, and a portion of a mental health protocol that White and his doctor drafted and want inserted into his contract. White, the No. 16 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, has yet to play for the Rockets this season in a months-long dispute regarding the treatment of his mental health. White suffers from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, panic attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and a fear of flying. White and the Rockets attempted to fashion a “good faith deal” to manage his health during the preseason and provide special travel arrangements, but White stopped showing up to practices and games in November and refused multiple assignments to the D-League. In January, the Rockets suspended White for “refusing to provide services.”" Exerts from the letter were in this SI article before the chron published it
Because of his height and for a better camera angle. His house is nice, I wonder if he'd have anxiety issues if he grew up in the third world. Being disconnected from so much information (including the Internet) may do good for him. Let him travel to Tibet or somewhere.
I got a chuckle out of his new, well-groomed look. Dude Sam Bowied the Rockets. He knew he couldn't/wouldn't handle the NBA grind. He's just angling to not lose the money from the contract he isn't fulfilling.
So basically, someone gave the letters to HBO and the producers of "Real Sport," and Feigen just wrote out the content on his blog. Which means White should have a beef with HBO, and not Houston Chronicle. But why do I get the feeling that this someone is in fact a person from Royce White's camp?
Agreed. Credit to him for keeping everything professional and out of the public's eye for so long. OTOH, in my book, Royce White makes himself look worse with every new interview and twitter message.
Yeah, I'm confused too. Can someone clear this up? Why in the world would the Rockets care to leak the letter? It would seem to be a stupid move on the surface.
Both SI and the Chron reference the interview as their source for the letter (which i'm assuming they then froze frame and transcribed but we wont know till the interview airs in full). Where HBO got the letters and Royce's list of protocols from is unknown. It appears from Royce's twitter he was under the impression that the team leaked it to the Chron and therefore "the team's journalist". I don't know how he derived that though as both articles clearly say they got it from the interview. The SI article was definitely published first from Ben Golliver's twitter timeline referencing it. On a side note Royce did say they were making a lot of progress till this happened in one of his tweets so hopefully if this is cleared up they can get back on track. Regardless playing the blame game is pointless. With so many people on both sides involved (and no doubt some with their own opinions that differ from who they are representing) things like this are going to continue to happen and people on both sides will continue to get it wrong from time to time. Both camps just need to not over react and learn from it to keep moving forward. With this whole situation I actually think both the Rockets and Royce have the right intentions just different interpretations on how it can work best in reality
