Athletes from other sports participating in a dunk contest, and killing it. I've never been a fan of the dunk contest, always preferred seeing them develop in an actual game where some freak with transcendent athleticism would just rise above the rim and slam it down. Watching a dunk contest you know they're going to dunk it, there's no surprise factor, no poppers, and no significant emotion attached to the moment. But damn, Mike Conley's dad could slam it. He does the Jordan cradle throw-down better than the GOAT did and then dunks it with two hands from the free-throw line for the exclamation mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29TixSRcEA4
in the late eighties early nineties, abc had a dunk contest that they would show throughout the college basketball season with none nba athletes. mike conley sr won it with a dunk from the free throw line with two hands edit: hadn't looked at video, this must be it
the contest also had barry sanders, william dean perry refrigerator perry's little brother, bo jackson, and a few others
You must have missed Vince Carter's insane dunk contest. There was plenty of pop suspense surprise and emotion. But I do agree since then it's all been down hill and quite boring
I remember this dunk contest. It mostly sucked with the exception of Conley and a couple other athletes. That two handed dunk is still one of my favorites of all time. You can't see it in the video, but he dunked it with so much force that he actually bent a collapsable rim.
