    Came across this nifty stats tool online today. You can specify any combination of players to be on the floor or off the floor, and it will tell you the stats for all the players on the team in those situations.

    http://www.d3coder.com/thecity/2013/01/04/introducing-nba-wowy/

    So, for example, here are the Rockets stats with Lin and Douglas on the court but Harden off the court:

    Code:
    [SIZE="1"][B]#    Name                FGA    FG%        2PTA    2PT%      3PTA   3PT%     eFG%[/B]
    1    Carlos Delfino      19     26.3       8       37.5      11     18.2     31.6
    2    Chandler Parsons    23     43.5       13      30.8      10     60.0     56.5
    3    Cole Aldrich        1      100.0      1       100.0     0      0.0      100.0

    Currently its just basic field goal shooting stats, but he says more to come soon.

    bah!

    I was hoping to see rebounding when certain players were on the bench. (Asik in particular)

    I would especially love to know opponents' offensive rebounding % when he's sitting vs. playing, but not sure if this would ever cover that.

    Team-level stats for individual players being on and off the court are available at basketball-reference.com:

    Bump.

    Lots of updates to this tool since I created this thread. It now provides all manner of player and team stats with various combinations of players on or off the floor.

    Is there a legit value out there that determines the best perimeter defenders in the NBA this season?

    Are you asking in general, or with this tool?

    Just in general, what do you think is the best tool to value the best defenders in the league?

    I think Synergy is a very good tool for perimeter defenders, because it provides good stats on isolation and pick-and-roll defense. Its less helpful for team defense (so, for instance, for rating bigs who have a bigger role as help defenders).

    Unfortunately, although MySynergySports has lots of nice stats, it doesn't provide a way to rank players across teams.
