I had my astigmatisms done in 1998, everything has been great. I had mine tuned for distance for golf and TV. I'm 60 and my increasing myopia make reading more comfortable with +150's.
Had mines done back in 2001. Started wearing glasses again around 2008. So no, it's not permanent. Planning on doing it again because I hate wearing glasses.
do you people know which eye is your dominant eye? your dominant eye is the same of your dominant side (hand, foot)? ? i have cross dominance (my right side is dominant except my left eye) and i was told that i could fix this with lasik. does anyone know something about this?
I ironically literally just had lasik surgery about 15 hours ago! And being 15 hours deep into post-lasik I'm already seeing twice as better as I have my whole life and it's suppose to get even better every day for the next month or two I'm told. Mine was 4k. Took no longer than 8 minutes total. The trick is you should opt for the INTRALASE lasik procedure. I couldn't tell you the difference other than it's unanimously more successful of an operation. I'm told that the main problems I'll come across is becoming a bit far sighted around my 40's (I'm 25). I was able to vaguely see immediately after, but they tape your eyes up for about 15 minutes before giving you protective goggles and letting you leave to go home and immediately crash for a good 4-5 hour nap. My vision felt a little wonky for about 30 minutes waking up after my valium nap but after putting in one of the eye drops, my sight has been continuing to improve. I'm honestly floored that I'm currently typing this sentence without contacts or glasses and seeing this text so.... damn.... clear. The procedure itself was absolutely painless. Quite trippy, actually. The only time you feel anything is when they create the slits in your eye which just feels like a vacuum is sucking onto your eye one at a time. After that, you see the doctor flip the flap and that's when the trippy-ness comes to play. Everything becomes blurry and bleeds into each other and it looks like you're watching someone scraping a glass counter that you're underneath (if that makes any sense). After the doc fools around with your eye, you get placed under this laser which goes off for about 20 seconds and looks like you're staring at a solar eclipse on shrooms. Next thing you know, they're patching up that eye and beginning on the other. I'm barely a day in and my mind is blown. Highly Recommended. (And for anyone curious, I went to the Whitsett Vision Group in Memorial)

Sorry to derail, but do you realize what you are saying here? You say you paid for a car without a payment and thinking about getting the Lasik surgery without making a payment. BUT, you used a loan to buy those things. You still HAVE to make payments on the $10,000. There is no difference between borrowing $10,000 and using $5,000 to buy a car than borrowing $5,000 and then borrowing another $5,000 for the car.
Lasik not that bad, but it does influence healing rate. Right handed, left eyed...only found out my eye dominance when I took archery class.
Yeah, it was more ironic to me specifically if anything. I was contemplating making a thread about it the day before. It's all gravy. Doc said a little TV/cpu time wouldn't hurt while wearing these goggles they gave me once I had my 10-hour siesta courtesy of my friend, Alprazolam. Had my check up today and everything's looking A-okay (pun intended?) I'll be good to start driving (with sun glasses) tomorrow
