How can they make it any clearer for you?
Lin averages 20 TO's per 100 possessions, Harden average 14.

Do you know what that means? It means Lin turns the ball over at a higher rate than Harden .. Both need to improve but Lin's TO rate is just DISGUSTING.

Harden also leads the league in being a sg who plays 2/3 more pg and ball handling duty than the starting pg

The only thing I don't like about Harden's turnovers are the slow/lazy ones. A couple of times a game I see him give a slow pass to another perimeter player that gets picked off. Because it's a slow pass and he telegraphs it, it's an easy pick.

If TO are created when he is passing it through traffic and pushing it hard then I don't mind as much. You'll get TO's from being over aggressive and that's ok for the character of this team.

Lin's TO's are mostly from trying too hard - which is OK. I don't see him give up too many slow/lazy ones.

#1 I honestly was not am not implying that everyone that has joined since 2012 is a LOF, however I will say that MOST of the LOF have joined in the last 6 months. That is just a fact.

#2 I dont expect anyone to believe me, but I actually like Lin. I have defended him on these boards and have said that IF he improves his 3 point shooting, he can become a borderline all star player.

#3 What I do not agree with is posters that believe that Lin's struggles are a result of McHale and Harden. There are some posters that actually relish Harden struggling so that Lin can be the man. Sorry, but Lin will never be as good as Harden is right now.

#4 It is nice seeing you post on the board, I have no beef with you.

    Total Turnover Leaders by year

    2011/2012
    John Wall
    Kevin Durant
    Russel Westrbook
    Steve Nash
    Deron Williams
    Lebron James
    Kobe Bryant
    Rajon Rondo

    2010/2011
    Russel Westrbook
    Lebron James
    Dwight Howard
    Derrick Rose
    Demarcus Cousins
    Steve Nash

    2009/2010
    Steve Nash
    Dwight Howard
    Kevin Durant
    Russel Westbrook
    Lebron James

Noticing a trend yet? Best players in the league have the ball in their hands more often, which leads to more turnovers. Hard to call any of those players other than Wall a detriment to their teams.

    Good post, fair enough.

#1 I guess that's the problem with implications, it's all based on interpretation, so I'll take your word for it. So, yeah, my bad. Apologies.

#2 Yeah, I've seen your posts (including the post you mentioned), you seem pretty objective to me. Never thought you were a LOH or anything FWIW.

I was mainly just sticking up for 2012ers who came here as rockets fans 1st (myself included), which some posters seem to be put into this LOF camp. I remember a few posters asking if there was just a way to put every 2012er on the ignore list :(.

Harden has played 159 more minutes than Lin, so using games played is useless. A better fact for your argument would be to use Turnovers per 36 min, Lin has 3.3 and harden has 3.5. It's close but harden still turns it over more, I'd assume because of all the time he spends driving to the basket.

    You gotta be kidding me.

Rockets is playing at roughly 100 possessions per game, Harden plays roughly 80% of the time, Lin 70% of the time. Harden needs to average around 11 TOs, Lin needs to average around 14 TOs to reach what you claimed. Be careful before you throwing capital disgusting words around.

Kevin Martin was 2nd only to Kevin Durant in FTM and FTA in the league two or three seasons ago.

This is nonsense and doesn't make sense.

More nonsense. Do you know what a rate is?

It's not based on team possessions, it's based on possessions used by the individual player.

Individual play is not called possession. Doesn't possession mean a team has the ball?

LOL. Do you know what a possession is?

Rockets is playing at a pace of roughly 97 possessions per game, very close to 100.

Yes, but the stat he is referring to is the based on the number of plays that individual uses out of the teams possessions. I'm not 100% on how they define it, but I believe they count it as any play that results in a field goal attempt, free throw attempt, assist or turnover by an individual.

There's only a .2 TO difference between Lin and Harden...you said 3.7 at first and then changed it to 3.5. He has 3.5 TO per 36, so the difference is. 2.

Also he increased his turnovers numbers by a lot from last year, not because of time played, but because of the players he played with. There were 2 better players than him that demanded the ball more, and they also had very high TO rates. Durant averaged 3.5 TO and Westbrook averaged 3.7 TO per 36. The best players will demand the ball more and will usually lead to high amount of TOs

Bro. You are completely misunderstanding the stat.
