I think its kind of ****ed up to get sympathy off of a fake cancer story...maybe you're insensitive to cancer, but to have someone sit there and act it out in that fashion...that's just disgusting, pathetic, and completely uncalled for. At least if he is going to kill her off, do at a time where you arent capitalizing the most from it.
I think you are completely wrong about that. I really do not think it is anyone's business about his sexuality. Life is not a gossip column, and if he doesn't feel comfortable coming out that is his discretion, especially since he is SINGLE, entitled to a private life, and etc. People will say "oh there's not wrong with being gay," will turn around and ridicule him for being gay and having a made up girlfriend.
Dude used a sob story to get more notoriety and almost won a Heisman partly because of it. Making up this kinda crap is not cool. Like rez mentioned, using cancer for gain is freakin ridiculous. A lady was arrested for making up that she had cancer. She took donations and posted her paypal account on facebook..
49ers to draft Te'o? Media is tip toeing around this story. If he comes out it would garner alot of sympathy. If he is gay, a made up girlfriend makes alot more sense as a way to deflect attention from that sort of thing in a high testosterone environment like a football team.
Sorry too many holes in his story for me to believe he wasn't in on it at some point. The whole gay theory is much more believable than him being that much of a dumbass. He used it this gain at some point, and not because he was embarrassed. He made a conscious decision that he could benefit from this. Those transcripts tell a story...
I've read most of this thread but not all of it, so forgive me if this has been covered but wasn't there some sort of monetary gain from this whole deal in the name of leukemia research? Follow me here, but what if both Manti and Tuiasosopo concocted this story as a means of getting paid. Basically defrauding all those who contributed in the name of the fake girlfriend? Is there any piece of evidence that could disprove this theory as a possible motive? Follow the money right?
That wouldn't make sense to me because Manti knew he was going to get paid. He knew he would end up in the NFL. The only one to benefit in that scenario would be his friend. But how would he have known that the media would have picked up on the story, etc, to the point people would know enough to maybe even donate money.
I hope, for his sake, that he is gay. That's the only way I will understand why he would do such a thing. And, I'd feel bad for him that he's had to go to such great lengths to cover it up. Any other scenario either means he's the dumbest person alive or he's a total scumbag.
Well in world where NFLers making at a minimum hundreds of thousands of dollars keep side jobs as drug runners it is not that far out of the realm of possibility. Maybe Manti wasn't involved (what a dupe) and it was Tuiasosopo commmiting the fraud, if Manti's uncle is to be believed, Tuiasosopo was running this game before even attempting to latch onto Troy P's name before.
Let me ask you this, knowing what we know right now, at this moment, in your opinion, do you think at any time he used this story for his own personal gain?
This post says a lot more about you than it does about Te'o. Why is being gay an "accusation"? It is not a crime. Why is it an 'embarrassing' accusation? What do you mean by "Gay Rudy"? It appears you are using "Gay" as a derogatory term. With people like you in the world, no wonder it is difficult for gay people to "come out of the closet".
Maybe he just isn't that bright. Doesn't everyone remember the original Flyin' Hawaiian David Kalaiki-Alii? Spoiler "I know all my ABC's!"
It's not like they set up a foundation or anything. Any money donated to leukemia research as a result of the story would've been given to legitimate organizations, not Te'o's pockets.

Ok, but you do agree that he only furthered speculation by perpetuating this lie in the first place, right? Whether he's gay or not is besides the point here.....he lied, then lied about lying, then used the lie as a way to boost his public image. Where does that land in the wheel of morality?
