Taking the dive with my girlfriend of 3+ years. Should have the ring in my possession this weekend or sometime next week. Any suggestions for how to pop the question? Shockingly, as a male and something of a jackass, I've never really put much thought into this so I have no clue what to do. Can't do it at the place where we met because we both hate that place. ****in' Buc-ee's.... And I'd rather not do it at the site of our first date. Margaritas in Huntsville isn't exactly a fine dining experience. I've Googled "best proposal ideas" but haven't really found much that would be helpful. Any place in or around Houston or The Woodlands would be preferred. She kind of knows this is coming, but I do want some element of surprise. So I really need some help here, CF. Any honest recommendations and words of advice would be a great help.

One of my friends did it on a helicopter ride. There are a few companies that provide this service in Houston. Tbh, I didn't do anything special but the ring more than sufficed. Ideal cut hearts & arrows diamonds FTW.
DON'T have some book or sign or plane or something else say the words for you. Whatever you do before you ask, make sure it's memorable, but MAKE THE WORDS COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH, be a MAN. Get on one knee, show her you're willing to do that, at least.
Even if your lady LOVES sports, do not do it at a sporting event. Actually, don't propose anywhere with lots of people around. Make it very private. I think the best idea is a nice hotel balcony during sunrise/set with a bottle of bubbly on ice.
We are all members of the Clutchfans community here, so I thought I would post an inspirational video for your encouragement! <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/We0ny8kCw5k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I proposed to my wife when we were decorating a Christmas tree. She was putting ornaments on the tree while I was handing them to her. I put the ring on an ornament hook and handed it to her, then got down on one knee. It was simple and meant something to us both since we met at Christmas, etc. The kicker is that I had arranged for our entire families to be waiting at a nearby restaurant and show up to surprise her about 20 minutes after I proposed. We then went out for a fun dinner. So maybe keep the actual proposal simple, but maybe surprise her with her family and friends afterwards? Only works if she is close with her family.
Whatever you do don't tell her you searched for the idea online or got the idea from a friend. For whatever reason, in a chicks mind it is really really really important that you thought of it.
I really am a nerd. I thought this was going to be a thread about canibalism or starvation in Houston. As for where to pop the question I have no solid advice. It really depends on what type of person she is, is she funny, is she nostalgic, is she old fashioned, is she adventuress and etc?
