Thought this belonged in the Rockets forum, given the Kobe Bryant vs. Tracy McGrady debates over the years.

Kobe says as far as one-on-one, he's the "best to ever do it", and the interviewer said he wanted to see him go one-on-one against Tracy McGrady in their primes.

Why do I find this hilarious.

Oh maybe because he's been doing it his whole life.

Wow, so he had back spasms in 1998, right after his rookie year.

In all fairness... When T-Mac was at his prime age and skillset, he played more point-forward and did facilitate pretty often. Averaged over 5 assist a game. Kobe is no doubt the better scorer, and all around player honestly. But I wouldnt take this as a knock, a youthful Kobe would knock off any player in this league...

I don't doubt what Kobe says, but i've read several times that Vince Carter in his prime was the absolute best at one on one.

Seems to be a common theme with T-Mac no matter which team he played for.

Agreed. I thanked him for playing for Rockets because he made me realize what Rockets truly need, a leadership and role model to the team. We don't have that since 2009. We need real superstar who can make Rockets a contender. Its amazing that we can't make playoff last three years without him. He was an important piece to Rockets. The only thing Kobe can't do is 13 points in 33 seconds and 22 winning streaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still love T-mac and I will still think about him. Rockets sucks now and I am depressed. I hope we have another long 22 winning streak because that was a fun moment.

Not that I'm overly eager to do it...but Kobe places this showdown a few years before there was a Kobe-Tracy debate. Kobe's a year older, so that pegs McGrady as 19, probably the summer after his rookie year in Toronto. That was the non-star McGrady that Butch Carter famously told "you'll be out of the league" if he didn't work on his game.

But still? LOL at McGrady's response to a whooping.
