You can't see that Smith is a tweener and Cousins an actual 4?

How good they are or can be is irrelevant in answering your question. Clearly, the team needs a more traditional 4 than a high flying 3, so fans will be a lot more receptive to acquiring a real big than a 3 who acts like one.

I'll quibble a bit here. I said he can play a low post game. You say it's inferior. I say it's not bad/it's good. I think it's a slight difference in opinion.

But isn't the main difference between the two the money? Smith is gonna ask for max since it will be his last "big" contract of his career, while Cousins is still on his rookie contract.

If all I wanted from a player were big dunks, flashy blocks and ill advised 3's I'd pick Smith.

You lost all credibility with that statement.

Well it's clear the personal bias for cousins is shining true with some of these comments. My time to bow out.

Cousins doesn't fit the run n gun system IMO. I think he needs to be put in a JVG's Yao situation; where JVG told Yao to just post as low as he could because that's where he was the most efficient. Josh Smith would be explosive on a good, run n gun team without a ball stopper like JJ. Harden is more of a facilitator, and Harden & Smith would fit well IMO.

The thing is age, and what do you want? I think that's the question. I think if we were to get Cousins it would put us in a bad salary situation in the long run, where with Josh Smith he's older, and probably isn't going to bust the cap too hard.

I like them both for this team it's just more of what you want/need. Asik is pretty good doing his thing close to the basket, so I'd think that if Asik and Cousins play together the lane would be clogged. Josh Smith would spread the D.

One thing a lot of people don't realize is that cousins is actually a very good passer. With the right coaching and team, he can be one of the best big men in the league. He has good defensive instincts as he does steal the ball, sometimes watching sacramento is frustrating because they don't let cousins post up so much, instead they let people like thomas or garcia or thornton or brooks to go one on one and just shoot long jumpers.
However, is the rockets the right team to make cousins into a great player? I don't see it. I think it would take a Popovich or a Phil Jackson to get the best out of him, not to mention he needs veterans or young players like Durant to have that kind of hardworking attitude.

actually smith is the one who reminds me of z-b, they have a similar game with launching long range 2's and 3's, except smith is more athletic, while z-bo is nimble and has better post moves.

Josh Smith got suspended yesterday by HIS team for conduct detrimental. You should stop throwing stones.

1)Fact is Cousins makes less, is younger, has bigger upside even though he is a head case

    2) Smith is older, makes a lot more, has no more upside and at times is also a head case.

I don't love either but option one has more risk/reward benefit

More than anything I just don't think Cousins is available. The Kings/Supersonics are going to stick it out with him, probably even extend him.

A focused Cousins has the potential to be the best big man in basketball. Go to a look at his stats this month. 21/13/4 shooting 50% from the field. He is also a really good ft shooting big man and not one of those guys you consider to be a liability at crunch time. The only major issue with this guy is his attitude. However, with the low price tag that he comes with now there is nobody on this team not named Harden that I wouldn't give up to acquire him. With him and Harden you already have enough superstar talent to compete for a championship if you can find the right complementary pieces.

if he is still on the team after the sale to the new buyers, then he wont be available.
But the maloofs wouldn't mind, it wont be their team for long.
If shaq and olajuwon got traded, then any player can be traded for the right price

No way, if Cousins was as good as ppl make him out to be, then the Kings wouldn't be suck so bad for the past years.

if the kings had built their team around cousins instead of a selfish tyreke, they would have been better.
They are not getting all the effort from cousins, because there is nly so many rebounds you can grab or block shts, only to watch tyreke and salmns run dwn the other end and jack up well contested air ball

KG played on some bad TWolves for multiple years when he was still in his prime and a great player. I'm not calling Cousins a superstar yet but he has shown that when he is focused he can dominate. If KG couldn't lead his team to the playoffs there was no way a young, undisciplined Cousins was taking the Kings anywhere.

I have wanted Josh Smith over Love. I think Love is more skilled, but will demand too much money and doesn't seem too passionate about the game, despite his hustle.

Smith will be a Rocket by the trade deadline. I have predicted that since before the beginning of the season, and I am looking forward to getting rid of Ppatt. I am not looking forward to losing Dmo or Jones though.

I'm iffy on Cousins just based on what he can become, but against Josh Smith. He is a 3rd-rate star that will be overpaid by a desperate, mediocre team just trying to make the playoffs.
