http://www.ridiculousupside.com/201...ilencing-his-doubters-with-recent-strong-play He's almost doubled his PER in meaningful Dleague minutes this season, and looks like he improved his defensive awareness according to the article. We traded for him a while back, and he's playing great in our uniform again. As a 23 year old(similar age as Harden) prospect who significantly improved, we need to lock him in a similar deal like Beverly/Smith got with team options later. To open up the roster spot, dumping Aldrich would do it.
Eh, give it time. No one was necessarily clamoring for Greg Smith at the time and he was looking to be pretty worth the signing as a rookie... this is Whiteside's, what? 3rd year in the league. I'd stay patient and see where he takes it from here. After all it is still just the D-League. Kinda off topic, what are the particulars regarding someone signing a D-Leaguer that was not drafted by said team and is not currently under contract with said team? Also what if they entered into the D-League draft, then would said team hold his "draft rights"? Curious to know.
http://www.nba.com/dleague/santacruz/dleague_faqs.html Looks like we wouldn't have his 'bird right' unless we sign him. We can use 10-day contracts to try it out first if necessary.
Let's wait until after the trade deadline to see if we can use Aldrich's contract for something useful.
That's how they want to keep it as a secret as much as possible. His numbers are wonderful, and that game in our uniform is ridiculously good. If he keeps putting up stats like that, more teams would take notice before us signing him. Yes, it's my conspiracy theory.

The Vipers have been playing another center named Tim Ohlbrecht. The two games following Whitesides nice game on the 7th, Ohlbrecht had excellent games going for 22 pt and 9 rbs and then 29 pts and 13 rbs. Ohlbrecht is just the better player right now.
What you said is true except it's not becuase Ohlbrecht is better. Ohlbrecht got those numbers in over 30 MPG. Whiteside's good game before that? 19points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks in just 20 minutes! This season Ohlbrecht has a solid PER of 23, but whiteside is ridiculously good with a PER of about 35 and he's younger. Granted Ohlbrecht played more minutes so it's not apple to apple comparison, but still whiteside managed to double his PER over last few seasons and the article I referenced showed his improved defensive awareness. I think rockets may have been convinced whiteside is good enough for potential signing(may depend on how things go before trade deadline).
Can anyone tell me why Ohlbrecht is playing so many more minutes than Whiteside? From the stats it looks like Whiteside is playing better, and he barely gets any minutes now. I haven't watched the games, though.
