    1) A good coach always study what makes his player tick and use it, rather than complain about and get stuck with players not able to do what he wants.

    2) We will definitely do much better in the 2nd half of the regular season, when we have more home games and no more 4-games-in-five-nights stretch, plus 19 games against the bottom ten teams.

i honestly think most people here did NOT see lin during linsanity...

a concise summary of lin's game, some obvious, some perhaps not (if you never actually saw linsanity as it happened)...

1.) he is best off the pnr. not just any pnr, but pnr with an athletic big. imo its no coincidence that houston offered lin a contract while pursuing dwight howard. NO coincidence... asik instead of tyson chandler? you bet his assist numbers will be affected...
2.) his bread and butter is a MID RANGE game. the rox offense of layups and 3s does NOT fit him AT ALL. last year he had some floaters, he had some stop and pop, he had some long 2s off the pick. he had A LOT MORE that he has not shown this year simply because it is not a part of the offensive philosophy. the whole offense is set up for layups and 3s. if he was to play his own game, he would be going rouge. lin is a team player and would never do this.
3.) his silly turnovers have gone down. what do i mean by silly turnovers? drive into the paint and pick up his dribble. also he used to drive to basket, jump without a plan, resulting in a bad pass. these have gone way, way, way down this year. his turnovers this year are off risky and lazy passes, not driving into traffic with no plan. instead he would pass or dribble out. imo if a mid range game wasnt so look down upon in this offense, he would shoot more in these situations instead of trying to find an open man behind the arc...
4.) his 3s last year were in rhythm, not assisted. he also didnt step on this line as much. why? footwork or lack thereof. wen he spots up, he generally takes a small hop before shooting. its this hop that makes him step on the line. when he is in rhythm, the hop is naturally there. the result is he is way better off the dribble.
5.) he CAN go left, he just cant finish at the rim with his left hand. the difference between this year and last is he keeps the dribble alive much more this year. in other words, he can still drive left but he should shoot instead of trying to finish at the rim. if only there was a mid range game in this offense that could take advantage of such a move...

I can't believe people are blaming Parsons. Lin dribbled into a bad play. Even if Parsons caught that pass, how could you expect him to make the shot with the defense crowding him and Lin. Rockets choked as usual. It's nothing new guys. We've been dealing with this for years and years. Lin panicked at the end, picked his dribble up near the basket with defenders all around him, and tried to pass the ball to bail himself out. How can you not see that? People are being to soft on him in fear of being labelled a Lin "hater."

I hope the Rox beats the Mavs in the next two games left. And I think they will do better when their shooting get back to their average or mean.

Even though Harden had 20/8/7, you have to look at the opportunity cost for the team if the ball was in another player's hand when Harden made only 5 of 23 shots, and one of 8 three point attempts. We are talking about 18 missed attempts. If we give the ball to let's say Douglas or Beverly, how many would you say would be enough to score 6 more points to win the game?

If I were to nitpick, Hubie Brown unnecessarily explains too much a lot of the times, like everyone watching at home is an idiot...BUT no one is perfect I guess, so I'll take it because when he does need to break down a play, he is great at it. He makes the the game easier to understand for the most casual fan.

Parsons should have cut behind Lin at the 3-pt line instead then.

That makes too much sense for McHale to actually do it.

Rockets might drop out of the playoff picture unless McHale keeps the starting backcourt fresh for the playoffs by reducing Lin's minutes to about 30-32 a game and Harden's to about 34-36 a game.

The Rockets had their only winning month of the season (December) when Toney averaged 25 minutes.

Lin did pick up his dribble too soon when he should've kept it alive, he also made a correct decision by passing to a cutting Parsons who was in the position for the go ahead layup. Lin's fault was that it should've been a bounce pass not a bullet shot, though Parsons should have caught that one.

Bottom line, both of them shared the blame for that TO.

Of course, that TO was insignificant to the missed FTs.

    Exactly.

Unlike Sampson who believed in riding the hot hand, McHale's propensity to go with stars who are cold is going to end up costing the Rockets a chance at the playoffs.

I can't believe people are blaming Lin, who scored more than half of Houston's 4Q points and technically has better 3p FG% than Del3no and Harden in this game.

The entire team (well, those who played, esp. during Mav's 19-0 run) should share the responsibility. Blaming it on Lin is just as immature and childish as blaming the loss on Parsons!

Obviously you have not played under an incompetent coach before.
