Why are Rockets fans in love with Cousins yet hate Josh Smith?

I find both of these players very similar. They are both very inefficient players offensively that depend mostly on their athleticism to score buckets. Yet when the name Cousins is dropped in this BBS everyone is in love and the Morey pics at MSG are posted left and right. Anyone care to shed some light as to why everyone in this forum seems to have a man crush on Cousins but love to hate on Smith? Keep in mind defensively Smith is a superior player, and offensively they are both inferior especially when you just give them the ball in ISO situations.

If it were up to me i'd stay clear from both players. I'd also stay clear from Millsap. I don't think any of these above average players would make us championship contenders.

So Clutchfans.......what is with the double standard?

Cousins is a lot younger than Smith and arguably has more upside.

I personally don't want Cousins any more than Smith, but I get where Clutchfans is coming from.

People think Cousins can develop into a dominant big man - a 20/10 guy who can be a goto player in the post. Its about potential.

I'm not high on either of them, honestly.

Valid point although Smith isn't some old man......i believe he's 27. In terms of upside i'd have to agree.

I always thought Cousins was more of a post player similar to Z-Bo, though I've barely seen Cousins play.

Josh Smith is a PF that plays like a SF.

I am a big DMC fan. I want him on the Rockets. I think he has crazy upside & can be that foundational player. He is still really young has a long way to go. He is already really good, could be a lot better. Josh Smith doesn't have much more upside in my opinion.

    they are not similar players
cousins is a better rebounder and doesn't jack up 3's
smith is a better athlete while cousins is grounded
cousins is better at posting up while smith is better facing the defender
smith can run with this team while cousins will need plays ran for him.
smith can be effective without the ball- block, steal, rebounds, while cousins will sulk and walk slow down the court if he doesnt get touches.

that being said, cousins is better and younger, and as long as his coach treats him respect as a man, he will play his heart out.
doesn't matter if you treat smith good or bad, smith lives in smith's world

At least with Josh smith you don't have to baby sit him as much. DMC is a way bigger nut case. Punches players in the groins, constantly complains to officials on every play, and just overall horrible reputation.

josh smith has a low basketball iq
Cousins is not a dirty play, he is jus emotional because he hates losing, and there is nothing wrong with that.
wanna see what a dirty player looks like, check out chris paul, raja bell, bruce bowen etc
cousins complains when he feels he didnt get a call he deserved, all the stars do it.

Dude needs to be on a team with mostly veterans. He won't be a good fit on a young Rockets squad.

"That guy has some mental issues, man," Mayo said. "He's a talented player. He has an opportunity to be the face of that organization, but I don't think he wants it. ...

"He's immature, man. Big maturity problem. Hopefully, he'll grow up out of it and become great. He definitely has the talent to."

Its very funny that mayo would call another player immature.
Cousins is young, that is true and will make dumb mistakes like most young men.
Thats no a problem, talking to him about his mistakes in a respectable will ensure he doesn't repeat it.

Its like fans want another team to trade them their own finished product which aint happening

DMC needs to be in a supportive environment first & foremost. He needs to be in a organization that supports him, very player friendly (Houston for example). Look at how patient the Rockets have been with Royce. And the Rockets maybe a young team but we are also a very mature team with a lot of high IQ players.

I don't like either of their game, prefer the Rockets don't go for them.

I think the guy has great potential.

I'd be very excited about a Harden-Lin-Cousins trio.

Man, he can really catch the ball too. Finally Lin and Harden will have a big man they can rely on to catch the ball and finish in the paint.

I'm sure he'll go back to being the same ol' Cousins again.
