btw, my shot's broke as hell since entering my 30s I still have damm fine games. lol. j/k. My point is his broken shot is making it hard for him, but it's not an excuse to stop being confident and being aggressive. It ain't coming back anytime soon so whaddya want him to do, stay passive and stay resigned to a role player and not the 2/3rd highest paid player on the team? He's got to be aggressive and be the 2nd option nearly every night. Without a second option a team is too weak. You need someone to reliably put in work on the days that your main guy is off. Lin can be that guy if the coaches and he get on the right page on this matter.

honestly looking back @ the highlights james harden shouldve passed to the open delfino you know he wouldve hit that shot hes clutch , harden's still young he'll learn from his mistakes you gotta love his passion though he wants to try to put the team on his shoulders and win the game you guy's cant hate him for that these mistakes will only make harden a better player , and as much as i hate lin sometimes during stretches the kid plays his heart out hes trying his best id rather see a guy try his best and fail then be lazy and do nothing please people stop hating , when we win you love everyone when we lose we hate everyone you guys never give credit where its due , mchale has done a great job and lin , harden ,asik , parsons , ppatt , morris can only get better as hubie brown said these kids are still not used to playing big minutes they have to adjust imagine were gna be over 500. at the midway point of the season with barely any practice sessions harden came over last second , the absence of coach mchale and a very tough schedule and were still in a great position please people start to see the positives in things i hate reading this board when everyone talks ****

    That does it.
Every first 3 pointer Lin attempts MUST be off the dribble at the top of the key like that one he hit in the 4th quarter. It's been more successful than the billion of spot up 3's from the corner he's tried. Just let him shoot that one and once he gets that one to go in, spot him up all you want.

But this is one game though. I am talking about over a full season. If we want him to be a consistent second scoring option (which is what the Rockets want from him Hubie was saying that pretty much all evening).

Different teams are going to defend him differently. Lin was able to take advantage tonight but you can't rely on that. The easiest way for him to be a more consistent player is to be a better shooter. Yes there are other adjustments you can make. But for the benefit of the entire team if he was a better shooter it opens things up tremendously for him as well as everybody else.

“He boasts an all-around repertoire rarely on display. Last season Lin was the only player in the nation to rank among the top 10 players in his conference in points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, field goal percentage, free throw percentage and 3-point percentage.

“This year? He is merely second in the Ivy League in scoring (18.6 points), 10th in rebounding (5.3), fifth in field goal percentage (51.6 percent), third in assists (4.6), second in steals (2.4), sixth in blocked shots (1.2) and top of the pile in turning the heads of esteemed basketball minds, including Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun.”

Bill Worrell ought to be fired. He is no broadcaster. Someone should start an official fire Bill Worrell thread.

Last year his shooting form was better than this year. I was reading somewhere that he was shooting the way his dad was teaching him (as his dad was watching MJ videos). Then after the summer he starts to change his shooting form by learning with his coach Doc (who is coaching girls BBall) if I am not mistaken.

You can't have it both ways. I agree with you that Lin and Harden are not the same caliber; Harden is the better of the 2, gets paid more than twice his backcourt mate does, and gets the balls more. One would think any "sensible" person would know it's unfair to expect Lin to match Harden's production, no?

Lin's game is far from perfect - no argument from me whatsoever. But he's a ball-dominant guard being asked to learn to become a spot-up shooter. A learning curve is expected. Asik fumbles the balls way too many times to count offensively but people just said, "well, that's not what he's good at but he's learning." Why can't the same courtesy be extended to Lin, who has shown us what he can do when he has the ball in his hands with his 38p game against the Spurs? And speaking of T. Evans, is he sharing with someone who is as ball-dominant as Harden?

For someone who was extremely hard to please, Popovich has nothing but praise for Lin. Yet his own fans are bashing him here, after Harden went 5-of-23 and Lin almost single-handedly kept the game from being a blow-out?

I think thats why Lin so often has a foot on the line when making a long two instead of a three - he's a much better off the dribble shooter than spot-up, perhaps because he's used to stepping forward into a shot.

Great post...and let us consider the teams where he got that 38 points....LAKERS of Kobe and SPURS of Duncan and Parker....And he got 14 assist last year with Mavs together with the Linsanity D-League squad they had...Lol...

Win or Loss, I still love my Rockets....

this was a night where Jeremy had to keep the ball and not defer.. Harden was off and this could've been the game where lin picked him up

Beverly looked solid. Also, gonna push lin and Toney. Competition always a good thing

I kind of feel bad for TD but the coach just needs to play Toney as a SG.

Hey Jeddah, you woke up for nothing. We lost the game but the 4th quarter was fun at least.

Rockets are playing Indy next. Top defensive team in the NBA. Have our work cut out against us. They will have a day off just like us also. Fortunately for us Indy really struggles to score. They have the worst offense in the NBA so we don't really need to work about our terrible D.

Yup, I think a Beverley-Toney backcourt could be lethal in certain situations...
