5th in the NFL in total offense this year. What you see as "decline" is a dedication to the run game. Just because Schaub isn't on the list of 5,000 yard passers doesn't mean that the offense has declined.
Yes they put up points... We are not denying that? But When the game matters and we are playing the Top Teams the offense vanishes.. This is because of the consertative calls. that will get you through teams like the Lions,Jacksonville's, Maimi's of the world, but will not get you through the top teams... Im not saying we dont have the weapons or not an offensive threat.. I just think we need better play calling.. More gutsy.. This will not ever come out of Kubiak's play.. 3 and 10... Hes calling running plays (3 and 15 (hes calling short passes) If he has a big lead the other team will almost always come back and make it close... WHY?? Because he starts to play to consertattive. I dont see teams like Packers,Patriots 49ers, letting up. They keep playing to win.. they dont play not to Loose....
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamoff 16th in offensive efficiency. It definitely declined. (9th last year and 2nd in 2010). I think the biggest culprit is losing 4 key blockers -- Winston, Brisiel, Vickers, and Dreessen. FB and TE were replaced with far inferior blockers and the o-line was replaced with inexperience.
Dedication shouldn't mean that the ability to get other players outside of Foster, Johnson or Daniels involved should disappear. In previous years, the offense could be spread around or if you take AJ or Daniels out of the passing game, someone else would be able to step up. This offense has become to easy to predict making it easy for a good defense to take away something and watch the wheels fall off. The coaches claim they preach defense, clock control and going with what the opposing defense gives them. Yet in all of their loses they don't really adapt or change their style of play on the offensive side other then throwing more to the middle of the field.
