Avery, Cribbs, or Ginn..? Detroit will be keeping Young especially since Broyles tore his ACL and Burleson broke his leg. Jennings is not going to get a pay day like Vincent Jackson. Jennings is ready to slide into a #2 WR role -- that's why the Packers don't want him back. Jennings would be a perfect fit with AJ who's actually older than Jennings.
Money is tight. Might wanna stand up if you're gonna pull a new collective bargaining agreement out of your a** Everything I've seen says he's basically off the team. You're right, he's probably going to be paid more. Lol. The Packers don't want him back because they run a system that does not rely on a strong WR1. Jennings ain't sliding into anybody's second fiddle role. Dude gonna get paid and grab balls.
Depends how much you want him. You want to go with a more dynamic offense? Then you need playmakers. How much do you think he'll get paid? AJ gets $10MM/yr, so let's assume that. You could afford him by cutting Kevin Walter and Owen Daniel. Which would you rather have? Walter + Daniel or Jennings + a cheap TE?
All you guys complaining about Matt Schaub need to shut up, he isn't going anywhere and when he starts the next season off strong everyone will change their view on Matt 180 degrees. I don't love Matt Schaub nor do I support the FOs decision to extend him before the season but I do know he is the best option available.
Two very expensive receivers, only one ball to go around. Schaub spreads the ball around a lot as it is, and I don't want to get away from that. If anything, I want to spread it around more. I also want to get away from is this slow as molasses offense that is entirely beholden to the running game. There's a reason the Patriots, Packers, Saints, etc don't go off throwing money at WR2s... hell, they barely throw money at their WR1. Don't get me wrong, I want Jennings. I think he's bad ass. But you guys are going to be shocked at how much money he gets.
Pass on Jennings. Cut Antonio Smith. Let Barwin walk. Let Quin walk if the price is too high. Draft defense, defense, defense. Sign Harvin or Wallace. Add depth on the OL and DL. Prosper. Draft a QB next year in the first.
Ignoring the fact we can't afford him, you think having a high tiered WR wouldn't give us more opportunities to spread the ball around? I'm a little lost on your point. Are you saying you'd rather go after multiple WRs instead of one expensive one? I agree with that point.
It would be nice to kill the Pats next season with Welker. Amendola or Hartline could be a nice fit. Bottom effin line --> Get AJ some help.
{insert Bad Luck Brian meme} Gets Packers dynamic former #1 receiver Donald Driver {/Bad Luck Brian meme} Will probably be how it goes I think Vincent Jackson's contract might be a market setter for the upcoming season. (5 years $55 mil) Along with Marques Colston's (5 years $40 million). I don't know how the signing bonuses and guarantees work in... I wouldnt see why Jennings would want less than Colston. But if Jennings would take that amount, he'd be very tempting to look at. Without looking at cap figures, still seems over what the Texans could REALISTICALLY do.
Unless he is willing to sign for a vet minimum, I doubt we would have the cap room capable getting Jennings.
Do yall guys think Anotnio Smith has any Trade Value? Maybe trade him for a good solid # 2 WR.. Draft another DE? What you guys think?
Wes Welker/Amendola/Harvin/Jennings/Wallace are all out there. Granted they could re-up with their teams but the Texans have every advantage in the world to land a #2 receiver. It would be inexcusable (lol) for this team not to get a legit #2 wideout this year. Re-up Quin, restructure to make one of the above mentioned pieces work, let Smith and Barwin walk. Draft DE, ILB, RT, RG. Sam Montgomery or Alec Ogletree?
