Gortat at PF so we can get every rebound, but clog the paint and watch our players brick 3's?

Milsap won't cost anything unless we offer him a contract.

There's no reason NOT to get Milsap just for this year if we can. I can't see the harm in solidifying our push for the post-season. Heck, he might even be the kind of frontcourt piece that could help us trigger an upset.

Why couldn't Gortat and Asik alternate minutes?

They could easily play more minutes in any given game based on matchups, and we could possible have both of them on the court for a 5-6 minute stretch with the 'shooting crew' surrounding them.

For one Patterson scored 19 and 20 against the Jazz so far this season. He's 3rd on the Jazz in blks per game behind Favors and Jefferson.

He has a rep as a good rebounder. Second behind Jefferson @ 7.7 per game. 4th on the Jazz in rebounds per 36 min. Behind Jefferson, Favors and Kanter. I looked @ all the Jazz play by play logs this year and Millsap does lead them in offensive rebounds per game, but he does get a lot of boards off his own missed shots.

I like milsap better as well, but imagine two foreign 7ft centers that can play D and rebound playing along each other...with a asian running the point...and even a white guy and black guy playing in harmony at the wings, don't forget about the argentinian 6th man. What a wonder thing that'd would be.

I think Omer's production would take another jump if he had someone like Gortat next to him. He gets worn down and has hit a wall lately but having someone keep him fresh would improve his(already stellar) rebounding especially in the 3rd/4th quarters. Not sure if a twin towers line-up would work every night depending on if we play a faster type of PF, but I could definitely see an Asik/Gortat duo up front being successful.

Imagine the double pick and rolls!

I'd love to have Gortat for the right price, this would work in my eyes.+maybe a 2nd rounder or something

I like the idea. Rockets is the most 'balanced' team globally and racially, lol. :)

Would Gortat or Millsap give us a win if they played against the Clips tonight ?

To be honest I don't know anything about xRAPM, but I will say that Delfino usually plays against bench players so his numbers probably would be better than a guy who plays mostly against starters.

Although I agree Lin doesn't get credit for his D, I think some of his numbers at least recently with the staggered minutes are also against bench players. An example would be the PHI game. Holiday scored 30 pts. 21 pts when Lin was on the floor and 9 pts against our bench.

Wow, delfino is a better defender than parsons? Who knew? Anyways Gortat is a better center than Asik. I'd prefer not to trade Asik but he is. Asik's defense is a tad bit overrated and his offense and rebounding is underrated. Asik is very slow when it comes to playing quicker centers and he gets lost on rotations sometimes. Not saying it's all his fault, but if he was THAT good of a defender this team wouldn't be so terrible defensively. I'm not crazy about either trade because I like our pieces, I think Millsap would be nice though..

I forgot he was on an expiring contract. So if we don't give away the farm, he'd be a fun pickup or a playoff run. Love the guy's lunch pail mentality. Just don't want to blow my load on him (that sounded bad)

I wouldn't say so much that Delfino is better, more like Delfino is defending more consistently this season.

Part of it I think is Delfino is coming off the bench, so he's fresh when he gets on the floor vs Parsons playing 38 mins a game and being asked to also be an offensive scorer at the same time.

It takes serious fitness to play aggressive defense, and superior fitness to play good offense AND good defense.

It's why so many "scorers" have a tendency to take plays off on the defensive end. It's just exhausting to play both ends at a high level.

How much sense, and why, does Milsap make? Honest question BTW. I, for one, would prefer Jeff as a FA in July to play 4/5.

I'd trade Asik. For a true stud. Gortat is fine, like to have him. But, at what price? Let the Suns have twins and Cole? Then, sure.

Millsap makes more sense as a free agent target than he does a trade target, unless the Jazz (and GM Dennis Lindsey, who used to work for HOU) are willing to give him up for cheap (may happen if UTH is doing badly in the standings mid-February and they are determined to hand the PF spot to Favors).

Anyhow, I can see Morey making the midnight visit to Millsap. He has that "Omer Asik Smell" to him-- a guy who seems to make a positive impact on the game in excess of his traditional stats.
