i don't understand your question. as for the movie, i thought it was pretty good. one question...were they attempting to leave some ambiguity as to whether or not that was Bin Laden? that's taking some serious serious artistic liberties if so.
Guess I was going in expecting too much. Dragged on and the intense ending wasn't really that intense, we all know exactly what's going to happen, I mean everything. What's worse, for me, was that the main character came off cheesy and annoying, not heroic and intelligent. It doesn't come off believable to me -- all of that emphasis on one person... this was the work of so many people. C'mon. Entertaining, but meh. Ends with the main character placed against a backdrop that looks like the red and white strips of the flag (you'll see) -- super cheesy. When I originally heard about the movie and saw the trailer I thought to myself, oh sweet, someone rushed to be the first to put out the Osama movie, great. Then I saw the reviews... now I'm back to square one. I feel like they reached to find a story to tell and a character for me to care about. The acting was great but I didn't connect with the character.
Found the movie mind numbingly slow. I wasn't expecting much action, but this was just flat out boring. Argo didn't have much action either but managed to keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was completely uninterested half way through Zero Dark Thirty.
Yeah, it drags on but that's fine if the writing and story are good (Argo is a good example) or if the main character is engaging (There Will be Blood), but that's not the case with this one. It's like a video game that's interesting at first but the tasks become repetitive, okay I get it, you want me to do the same thing over and over and over again to get my prize but it gets it old, plus I already know I save the princess at the end so why will I ever play this game again and should I even finish it in the first place?
Not as good as the reviews indicated. Very bland and shallow movie. No characterization, no tension, big lack of detail, subpar performances.
You guys weren't seriously expecting an action movie, were you? I don't know how accurate it was, but it was pretty realistic. The Maya character is probably pretty spot on. The real CIA targeter she is based on blasted some of her colleagues in a mass email because she thought they were unworthy of receiving awards and commendations because they had tried to get her to drop her idea of finding Osama's courier. You know, it's funny; but my wife and I both thought that this movie would have been better if directed by a man. The movie tried way too hard to toughen up the protagonist with the "f***" this and "f***" that and "I'm the m*****f*****" who found" etc etc. And, unfortunately, the story just dragged, dragged, you can't care too much about the protagonist. You want to care. Wanting isn't doing. The movie should have cut 30 minutes of boring crap, put in 10 minutes at the beginning of the Seals training for the mission, 10 more minutes in the middle, told the rest as flashback, leading up to the raid at the end. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overhyped. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. If it wins best film---it won't---I'll s*** myself extra-chocolatey.
Ignoring the ridiculous sexism in this post (no really, can't believe I read this post in 2013), did you people really expect an action flick? Jesus Christ.
I really don't think it was trying to toughen her up. Earlier in the film the guy colleague told her she needs to be forceful or she won't get the credit she deserves. That's all she's doing there...trying to stand out, make an impression, etc. If she was meek about it, it's not a very big stretch that presumably upper level (most likely male) CIA employees would take some credit even though they didn't do ****. Also, the movie you're describing would be a completely different film. This movie was about the decade long hunt for Bin Laden. The only reason the finale is even in the movie is because it's the culmination of everything else that happened. Making the seal team six thing a focus point was not in the cards.
Thought it was brilliant and I'd put in my top 3 of 2012 films. I liked it more than The Hurt Locker, which is saying a lot
Thought it was excellent as well but it does have a serious, almost clinical, detachement from the characters even Maya. The trailers are doing it a disservice since it's not really the story of Seal Team Six.
I think some of you were expecting to see this movie instead? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6OJArlYJQPg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
