I never believed in curses but if you do the Boston Red Sox should have eliminated that belief for you.

Texans had terrible management in the beginning and just have lost to better teams the last two years.

Oilers lost to some of the greatest teams of all time in the 70's steelers. They collapsed versus Buffalo and lost to arguably the greatest QB of all time the next year.

Astros ran into some HOF pitchers in the 90's had a great run in the 2000's lost to a better team in 05. And had terrible management since....I was 2 in 86 but on paper that Met's team looks better to me.

Rockets won 2 titles obviously not cursed.

Houston Comets, Houston Dynamo, Houston Aeros, Houston Rockets, Rice University Baseball, all champions from Houston. Cursed about what, exactly?

It sure seems like Houston major sports are. Who can forget Jim Valvano over Phi Slama Jama?

That's why it' laughable people dismiss what the Comets and Dynamo do just because they're minor sports. At least those teams consistently perform/ed at a high level and won championships.

But at least this year didn't end in a typical Houston sports choke.

I think it would be the Astrodome. Any Houston sports team above the high school level that's ever played there has had seems to carry this curse except the Rockets for a two year period. And even their championships supposedly don't count.

Notice that when the Comets moved the Astrodomain complex/Reliant Park they quickly folded thereafter.

My solution? Let all of our sports teams move away, get new teams, have them play at venues far away from Reliant Park (the MLB and NBA team would have no issue) and refurbish Rice Stadium for the NFL team. UH, you're just out of luck for all eternity. The Astrodomain/Reliant Park is cursed.

Da Bears had possibly the most dominating team to ever win the Superbowl and a team make it to the SB in the past 10 years. So they're not hurting for a great football tradition.

The White Sox and Cubs having only 1 World Series championship between them in the last 70 years or so is still 1 more than the Astros.

One thing about the Cubs. They are cursed and it seems to be pretty much accepted but their pathos is different from Houston teams in that I feel most of the country would love to see the Cubs win.

And after visiting Chicago many times, my feeling about the baseball fans there is that it's going to happen. The fans have a belief and a swagger that it's going to happen. They're obnoxious at times yes, but not like New York or Boston fans.

Houston is definitely in the Cleveland area when it comes to expectations for winning a championship. But we're nowhere near the misery that is being from Cleveland or rooting for the Cavs, Indians or Browns.

Seattle is up there as well since the only championship they have had was in 1979 and that team isn't even there anymore!

Houston is the Sisyphus of the sports world. We always get that boulder close enough to the top only to see it roll back down again.

I hate whining about sports curses. You know who is cursed? The entire continent of Africa. Go ask someone in Rwanda about Houston's football curse.
