Ran the same offense as Schuab, but can run out of the pocket and doesn't through big game picks.

We can't afford him and Schaub together. We are stuck with Schaub for at least two more seasons before he can get cut as well.

I think the best option for the Texans is to draft a QB in the first 3 rounds of next years draft. This is what the 49ers did with Colin Kaepernick selecting him in the 2nd round.

This will do two things. Give us a QB to develop behind Schaub until we can cut him, and also it should light a fire under Schaub to perform better or his job is in jeopardy.

I haven't seen enough of Alex Smith to know what type of quarterback he is. but I like the sound of him at this point.

Alex smith is not that good. Without harbaugh he would be out of a job.

I've seen him a lot the last 2 years. If it's doable, Texans have to give him (or someone else) a shot and let Schaub go.

So you're going to replace one "serviceable/system" quarterback with another? Horrible idea. I'd rather have TJ Yates.

Agreed. Schaub had a chance to redeem and couldn't. We had his chance. Nothing personal to him but time to transition or start the transition.

Do you really think Smith had a light go on out of nowhere? Or is he also a system qb? He's no better than schaub. Or if he is better than the last 5 games of schaub, it's marginal and not worth a change now. Go bigger or go draft

I was a Schaub defender until mid-season. Time to embrace the crow.

Schaub has peaked and his best days are behind him. Therefore, IMO, he clearly isn't adequate.

Alex Smith can give the Texans at least what Schaub does and he isn't a statue. Smith shouldn't be the only guy the Texans consider.

So if Jim Harbaugh who has the league's best defense, one of the top few offensive lines and a pro bowl running back doesn't think Smith can lead that team to a superbowl.

    How will the Texans go?

Agree on the former. Just don't think they should settle. Why switch to someone slightly better but still inadequate in the end? No real advancement to your goal

I said Smith shouldn't be the only guy they consider.

Also, sometimes it's time to stir the pot and change just to make a change. Texans need a shakeup on offense.

Alex Smith's ceiling is Matt Schaub. No thanks.
