There are some interesting Nets trade ideas in ESPN per diem today. Cousins for Lopez idea in particular was interesting. after January 15: http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6189139 Brook Lopez for Cousins, Tyreke, Salmons The Nets will have to gamble if they don't want to spend the next 5 years as a 1st round team. This might be that gamble. Cousins has a ton of talent, and they can also afford to extend Tyreke, who for all his flaws would be a major improvement for their bench and probably a starter long term. Salmons is a bad contract, but he'd add depth too. The Kings. They clean the house before their main assets lose even more value. I'm also not sure that they are willing / can afford to extend Tyreke, given Maloofs' financial issues. They get a young near-all star center to build around and save $$ short term. Who says no? I think probably Brooklyn, but I'd take that risk if I'm them. Trade idea 2: Same thing, but to make it sweeter for the Nets, add Chuckwagon going to Brooklyn for Teletovic and CJ Watson. This also saves the Kings some more salary. http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6189150
Interesting... i havent actually thought of any bky trades butbthey def need to do sonething, especially given prokorov and his.desire to excell at any cost... they seemed good at the begining of the year but really seem flat lately... they need to make changes... I like the idea of bk going for a blockbuster trade but it doesnt seem to fit to me... cousins needs to mature and isnt ready to win now with a team like bk... besides i think that team woild stunt and ruin his developement... But i can see it happening...
Brook is playing like he read that ESPN per diem. 27-11 with a bunch of blocks over the last 3 games, and he didn't even play big minutes. He's playing himself way out of that trade idea. The Nets will probably wait for the summer and then look at getting someone for Humphries expiring. Humphries + picks for Nene?
Yep lol. He's actually been looking very well in limited minutes, but he's been an injury magnet lately. And that contract could very well become an albatross soon. But short term, the Nets would benefit from Nene's PnR D and lateral defensive quickness, while Brook could keep focusing on the rim protection. There'd also be less spacing issues compared to having Humphries in there. And they'd be a super big team. This is really the Knicks Zeke route, except these guys aren't nearly the headcases that Isiah collected. Long term, it's likely to hurt them. Short term, I can easily see them doing it and it'd make them much better, if Nene can stay healthy.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ajjefv7 Indy sends granger/augustin/pendergraph/1st to boston for pierce/bradley... Boston recieves around 5mill in expiring contracts between augustin and pendergraph and a very solid granger along with a 1st... thos helps start thier rebuild/retool... Indy recieves a better defending backup pg on an already defensivly dominant team along with an all time great clutch pierce who brings lots of experience and could jus be enough to get them past miami... Thoughts?
I dont think so... No one wants gay so maybe they have to package wroten with him in order to unload gay, but i feel they could get better than 2overpaid role players and a large expiring... Now i do think they like the huge expiring but might not want fields contract, and kleiza jus might fit... If this is the best offer they recieve than i could see memphis taking it but i think they want more... although 'want' doesnt always happen...
For the Pacers, I'd consider it even without Bradley/1st. I'm not sure the Celtics would give up Bradley, but if they do, I'd take it without much thought. Bradley+Stephenson off the bench would make the Pacers 2nd unit awesome. In fact, I might add another 1st and any current Pacers backup they want.
Milwaukee out: Monta Ellis, Samuel Dalembert Milwaukee IN: Danny Granger, Miles Plumlee, filler Indiana out: Danny Granger, Miles Plumlee, filler Indiana IN: Monta Ellis, Samuel Dalembert Throw in future draft picks? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ao8sq2h Pacers get a shooting guard and back up center for Hibbert. Paul George will blossom in his natural position at the 3 spot. Bucks will finally get a capable scorer at the 3 spot next to Jennings. Dalembert's minutes will be allocated to John Hensen. Thoughts?
Well i added avery because pierces contract is semi albatross and will be bought out reaulting in dead space(iirc)... but i also know boston likes avery, so the first is added for added benefit for boston... I dont know what picks indy has(too busy to research with playoff football) so if you could add a second to make boston do it than do it... But personally i think indy is overpaying with more than one pick... BUT if indy is serious about trying to win it all this year, this is the kinda move they need to make...
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bjbyjou Similar to top trade but edited more... Indy out- granger/west/augustin/pendergraph/1st/2nd Indy in- pierce/millsap/watson Boston out- pierce/bradley Boston in- granger/augustin/pendergraph/2nd Utah out- millsap/watson Utah in- west/bradley/1st Utah gains a backcourt player thay fits along with a first for millsap, and a replacement for reat of season in west... Boston gains a similiat yet younger player in granger while gaining a 2nd and 5mill expiring... Indy gains a great player in pierce and an upgrade at the 4 and goes serious towards a title run this year... plus builds a better core going forward with millsap over weat and pierc beimg bought out...
The Pacers salary situation is actually pretty good next year, I don't think they'd cut Pierce. It could get worse 2 years from now when George is no longer on rookie scale. But at that point I assume Pierce would sign at much lower salary. That's why I like this deal, Pierce is an upgrade short term and cheaper long term when the Pacers will need money for George. But if they add Bradley, i don't just like this deal, i love it.
Ok even better i thought george was due for a raise this offseason... it seems like a perfect fit and great value for both teams, which means it prolly wont happen... What about the second trade and the millsap angle?
The 3 team is even better, if the Pacers can keep both Millsap and Pierce.. I'm not sure if they can, they'd have to do their research. Basically, assuming George gets max, the Pacers would be something like 18-19 mil under tax in two years. That number is likely to become more like 25 mil if Stern's projections hold up. Is that enough to resign both Millsap and Pierce? And the Pacers will also probably want to resign Lance Stephenson. It may be enough, but I'm not sure.
Kind of doubt it. The Calderon piece is nice for the depth he provides (+ being an expiring), but fields' disgusting contract negates that.
Milwaukee Receives: Pau Gasol, Steve Blake LA Lakers Receives: Samuel Dalembert, Drew Gooden, and Beno Udrih Thoughts?
